should you actually reply saying "Good luck"? Or is it one of those things that can afford to go unsaid?

though, as JayPe said, i would consider replying to someone else saying that depending on whether i could afford the text :)
It just seems weird saying it.
Then I guess you say 'keeping my fingers crossed' or 'break a leg' instead.
I couldn't care less if nobody wished me luck :)

with "all the best" or "hope you do well".
I don't believe in saying "good luck", i have some weird superstition about not saying that.
"I'm going to try poaching an egg now. Wish me luck!"? Nothing needs to be said, does it? That's an appropriate way to end the conversation.
