I haven't personally.
how'd it work out for you?
it depends entirely on the council
sweeping generalisations on DiS.
on the following please, I'm bored.
it all makes sense now. I will contact you for all political / moral advice from now on.
are totally flipflopping on Iraq now!
around when you're relying on a state pension in however many years time. We can come back and have the same discussion. Or maybe when you get some sort of crippling illness meaning you can't work and have to rely on incapacity benefit.. But as we all know, you're probably goading people because you have nothing to do until Home and Away / Neighbours start...
I very much doubt he believes any of what he says.
I've lost count of the amount of "goading" posts I read on here..
he pioneered the electric herb
wanna buy some lucky heather? it's got shit on it
so it's not a matter of scrounging per se, it's who you scrounge off?
people who live off their parents past a certain age are total scroungers.
sure it is. you'll never get into the debutante ball that way.
If the powerful people hadnt nicked all the land off the poor then all families would have had a plot of land upon which to live....e.t.c. etc etc.......however the enclosure act encouraged greedy exploitative people to snatch remaining unclaimed common land and made it impossible for people to fend for themselves.
PS are you a fim believer in the liberal use of abortion?
Usually by your age you should be providing everything for your parents.
So your revulsion towards those on state benefits are no more valid than people who decide to look down on you as a waste of space
not my opinion...but some cultures and families do believe that
"Is Argos a shop? I don't know, I don't even own a tracksuit"
maybe it wasn't
thought it was
but then some people said something more interesting than me and had there own conversation and bummed me all the way down here so you can't tell to whom i was replying.
i'm going to go listen to my chem and do a cry now, bye.
I thought it would take at least 3 or 4 posts before someone said something "controversial". I was wrong.
That makes me a massive pikey.
does this make me a pikey? (It would probably explain a lot..to GG) It was on an estate...maisonettes and blocks of flats. I lived there for about 8/9 years
I merely included his name to indicate that he was perhaps predictable in his attitudes (I guess I am too....although I like to think that you cant actually predict what I will say next)
I've always struggled to not be a hippy, but its been hard you know, I always feel like protecting them, whilst reviling the idea of me being one myself
that post has deprived me of anything unpredictable to say in this post...... :(
I don't think I really noticed....
there was no shame in living in council housing. Even middle class families lived in council housing.
Up until then people were happy to live in council housing because they actually believed in the concept of a welfare state.
council housing was introduced because the government wanted to conveniently relocate and rebuild the country with minimum outlay.
How else were they going to justify moving whole populations from areas that they lived in all their lives to populate 'new towns' and neat little prefabs??
So gg is basically blaming people for trusting their government with their welfare.
Thatcher changed the goalposts and you expect people to keep up just like that?
This isn't a left/right argument.
You have to accept that governments change their policies in response to economic climates in random ways sometimes. And you can not just reconfigure the population to fit in with those changes.
The only people that survive these reconfigurations are people that do EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE to the common good or to what their government tells them.
The new affluent class aren't the people who bought their houses under thatcher, which is what the Tories peddle. It was was the people from bombed out town centers like the east end of London and notting hill who refused to moved into council housing in leafier suburbs while renting out their old decrepit terraces to jamaican immigrants.
so the people post war rich that you laud so much weren't just scroungers in the 60s, they in fact were fraudsters who sponged of the state and exploited immigrants.
So you should should equal admiration to benefit fraudsters who illegaly rent out their council houses that is paid through housing benefit while they buy freehold houses to live in in different names.
These are your heroes
refused to move into new towns...instead places like essex..also council homes
Mine was a ford escort
you can do anything (with the curtains drawn) parked right in the middle of busy cities and peer cheekily out at the passers by.
ablutions are a bit tricky there though.....you have to wee into beer bottles and serupticiously tip it down the drain
I lived on a council estate, but in a privately rented flat, and the council tenants were all WEIRD. It was like Coronation Street and they all seemed to hang out only with people on that street.
and I'm not in the least bit ashamed (or indeed even proud) of it.
Anyone who thinks that living on council propert makes you a pikey (a) misunderstands what the term 'pikey' means and (b) displays a pretty fundamental lack of understanding of various financial, social and demographic issues
