I'll go have a look
As was the size of the gate Cook left for the ball to slide through onto the stumps.
why are we so full of "nearly men", has-beens and never-were
i'll excuse Cook from this, generally he looks solid and everyone fails from time to time
but Vaughan hasn't done anything for a while...Strauss doesn't actually need to be described, everyone knows his quality, and Ian Bell...well, as I'm writing this, I don't know if he's out yet, I assume he is. 2 runs from 35 balls? Looks like he's secure and confident then, yeah.
freudian slip? perhaps.
But I don't agree with your assessment of him, there have been plenty of times were Bell's stood steady as the team collapses around him, the last Sri Lanka tour springs to mind. Put it this way, there are more good performances than bad.
Kiss of death there ^. What a shot...
Aggers made a good point earlier - It doesn't matter who wins the toss and such as both sides have dramatic collapses in them.
We win (or lose) this round.
but tends to bottle it, as shown yet again. I think Strauss and Vaughan are class but sadly they're no longer consistent enough to warrant their places. Vaughan is the best captain in the side though so needs to be retained, for the time being at least.
Considering the upheaval in the bowling ranks however, I wouldn't be surprised if the next test series had a radically different top order.
the batting line-up needs some serious shaking up for the summer. Strauss and Vaughan probably both need to go.
On the positive side, it's good to see Pietersen counterattacking rather than trying to rein himself in too much.
A seam attack consisting of Baldy, test virgin and medium paced trundler have brought us to our knees. Christ. I'm going to bed.
that was awful. I'm going to bed. Pietersen had better be on about 200 by the time I wake up tomorrow.
as I type.
And to bed. I hope for 200 as well. He'll run out of partners, most likely.
Just you watch.
240/7 at the close. Pietersen's wicket was pretty much thrown away but without him and a plucky innings from Broad, it could have been an abysmal situation. As it stands, there's a good chance they could still win. Or lose. Probably won't draw though.
especially the batting line-ups, as prone to collapsing as both are, anything is possible.
first ball of the day. Good start guys.
totally merking New Zealand now. 137/6.
another 5 wickets. I knew Anderson would bowl like a dick in this test. He can never string two good performances together.
Sidebottom is an absolute hero. I love Stuart Broad, too. We REALLY should score 300 in the second innings and bat them out of this game now.
Ambrose and Strauss have gone after ten minutes. Still, credit to Strauss and Bell. But it's pretty typical of England to fuck it up almost immediately!
Although it's got to end in an England win...right?
This pitch is going to get seriously flat.
RJ Sidebottom 1.50
JM Anderson 6.00
SCJ Broad 0.75
MS Panesar 1.42
