being ripped off at work

davoirgoir [Edit] [Delete] 13:01, 17 March '08

at the moment a guy who does the same job as me, but hasn't been here as long has just handed in his notice.
he's now negotiating with them for more money, which they seem to be taking fairly seriously. They seem to be pretty desperate for staff here as people are leaving here all the time.
I'm now thinking, should i start demanding more money like this guy? I was considering waiting til they advertise his job online and then seeing how much it's up for and then ask but without the threat of leaving i don't think they'll do anything.
The only problem is that they do let me work 3 day weeks for 4 months of the year so that i can do a degree and they know i'll be leaving as soon as i'm done.
i hate feeling like a mug but also hate these sorts of confrontationy things.
does anyone have any advice for this sort of thing?
