A New Era in Jags
4/3/08: FoTB SINGLE LAUNCH@WHITE HEAT (or “Made It Ma! Top-loader of the World!")
Dearest DiSers,
Friends of The Bride have played a whole mess of club nights over the past months and we've noticed that many of the hosts have a penchant for wallowing in those dubious pleasures that arise amongst dirt and squalor. Don't get me wrong – these clubs and their proprietors are rarely dirty or, indeed, squalid. It's just that they seem to be commonly afflicted by a preoccupation with all things unsanitary when it comes to branding their product. Stop for a moment and think of some current club nights and venues (or even band names)… Chances are there's a 'dirty this' or a 'blood-stained that' amongst them.
With this in mind, it was a pleasure to receive an invitation (on lavender-scented note paper no less) from the flawless folk at BRAINLOVE RECORDS inviting us to headline for them on TUESDAY 4TH MARCH at the whiter-than-white WHITE HEAT (Madame JoJo's on Brewer Street, London). This will mark the release of an unimpeachable split Brainlove EP that boasts FOTB's 'YOU CAN'T TAKE HIM ANYWHERE' alongside 'Hey Buddy!' and two sparkling tracks from Manchester's immaculate electro-pop soap-seekers, MODERNAIRE (out on 17th March on 7" vinyl and download).
Door opens at 8pm and the cycle will commence as elutriated electrophonic experimentalists KEYBOARD CHOIR agitate their various 88s. MODERNAIRE will then be added to the tub before FRIENDS OF THE BRIDE tumble into the limelight, bang the drum and generally get worked into a proper lather (at variable temperatures, of course). Subsequent ominous rumblings will be drowned out by the positively boil-washed Djs that are John Brainlove, Natasha Vorontsova, Matty and Olly who will be spinning pre-buffed vinyl and shaving mirrors at no more than 1300 revolutions per minute.
We know you all scrub up a treat, so use your loofah, dress nice and don't be deterred by detergent. FoTB at WHITE HEAT will be enough to remove even the stubbornest stains… but then again – as Jimmy Cagney said in the movie - "you'd look good in a shower curtain."
Warm wishes (40° to be precise),
-FoTB
