where you're trapped in really giant stores, and its a bit like a futuristic dystopia, only in retail form?
Maybe I'm still there
also happened to me.
It is like being in the really shit future, especially as there are no windows, and the floors in between the clothing racks sort of look like conveyor belts, if you squint.
OH IIIII KNOW THERE

worked in the M&S at the hedge.
south-west Leicestershire border village. next to Hinckley. says it all.
Another raised in the Burb
against alresford. dirty twats. Also, alresford has thatched houses.
it also has some quite nice shops, and is just ten minutes drive from Winchester.
Winchester is so totally my spiritual home though, because I went to school there and hence all my friends were from there (as there is a different secondary school in Alresford), I don't know anyone in Alresford.
Scruffy Murphy's used to rock my preverbial socks off.
Scruffy's neither. The place is (almost) dead to me.
Nice little place.
mega film there with fake snow and Jude Law and it attracted (apparently) a melee of over-excited youngsters. Fair play if you're the hollywood big time player who brought this DESPICABLE EVIL to my hometown.
alot of time in Brookwood. G'ford is the nearest city (if it is a city?) I remember a massive war cemetary.
Harehills (Hairy Hills)
Chapel Allerton (CPA)

Kings Lynn (Norfolk)
met, Vikram? I will also admit that I had a few good years of 'going out' in Lynn. And some of my closest friends still live there, so shouldn't really slate it that much.
I went to college there as well....98 & 99, I think?
spent much of my childhood on the west coast of Norfolk. my parents still live in a village called Snettisham.
I went to Norfolk College from 1995 to 1999 before going to university.
Hunstanton cliffs are the only cliffs on the east coast that face west (fact )
I went to college with a girl who lived there, Mel Lynn (unfortunate name....Melon, Mel Lynn - her brother was called Rael Lynn....railin)...
What did you study at the college?
I studied Business studies then Information technology.
you're now the third person i know from Kings Lynn!
I'm not actually FROM Kings Lynn - but I lived there for 8 years.
Farum, a Northern suburb of Copenhagen, until 4ish. Then Aston Clinton in Buckinghamshire 'til age 7ish. Then mid-Suffolk 'til the present.

Where in Suffolk?
Basically mid-way between Bury St. Edmunds and Stowmarket on the A14.

I spent a year there in a cleminson hall.
in Seamer, well close to there. Did you go to Stokesley School?
I lied earlier in the thread and claimed I grew up in Middlesbrough as I didn't know the thread was this specific.
That's pretty ace :)
Did you go there? When from/til?
until 2002, when I left 6th Form to go to Uni.
You were like 2 years behind me! That's pretty weird :)

Sort of like a US equivalent to Essex!
I think it was mentioned in a Die Hard film once.

Popular with racist murderer types

as long as you're not in Harpurhey, that is
North City ftwe
well at least it, er, has a big Asda. Has the swimming baths collapsed yet? I remember going there in the early-mid 90s, worried it would cave in at any moment.
I've never seen any around here, so I guess it did collapse! There's a big fancy gym now that no-one seems to go to. Oh, and a Subway just opened, that was quite exciting - I still go to Harp Moss for pie specials though. The flea market's amazing too.
but after a quick Googling, it appears they're derelict now:
'Harpurhey Baths finally closed completely in 2001 after serious defects were discovered in the building’s walls and machinery.'
I could have told them about that 15 years ago, and I was 6.
Ah, jumping in the pissy sand pit.
I feel like it's too late to join this thread
I went to school pretty much next to that part of town. But I lived in a slightly nicer bit (Cove).
Anne Robinson went to Farnborough Hill...not so fit now, eh?
I don't know how to take this news that you're from Chiswick
My mum's just a snob and so I've become indotrinated that I just go along with Chiswick now
Sorry to shatter the illusion
i hate driving in portsmouth, the roads don't go where they are meant to.
such a nice little place
it reminds me of the old downstairs zodiac, except more blue than red
its horrible isn't it?
but yeah i went round and round and every 10 minutes kept findingmyself at an asda or something, i almost got mad and parked in the middle of the road
That is all!

Near Ragley Hall?

Dun Laoghaire, Dublin.
I was all like, 'why the hell are we in Dun Laff-hair? I thought we were going to Dublin!'.
home of the Celts

near White Rock Lake
very pleasant liitle village with lots of parks for me and my brothers to play football in when we were young!

kowloon, hong kong
mill park, melbourne, australia
Tis a suburb of Dallas, Texas - yee ha!
Then moved to Bedford at the age of 12 - that was a bit of a shock
The first one, anyway. My godmother and her sons lived there for awhile.
Fucking hell yes, isn't moving away from the south crazy? I was five when we moved to Illinois and I thought everyone was so mean at first, as I didn't understand it was just a different (less gregarious) culture.
from Texas to a a rainy crappy town in the UK. I could not get over how horrible all the kids I went to school were and how adults aren't friendly to young people/kids here, I hated it. I live in Brighton now on the south coast of the UK which is much nicer. Off back to texas for SXSW on Friday, can't wait! Whenever i go back i notice it as soon as I arrive, passport control actually smile instead of grunting...
a suburb that wants to pretend it's actually a village.
is from Port Glasgow, most of her family still live there
and just outside Truro, Cornwall...
