apart from avoiding knife-crime, any advice?
when holding glass bottles :)!
seriously, it's possibly the best night club I've ever been to
Go to Optimo.
i'm not sure how late we're staying. i will press for optimo action
Sven-Goran Eriksson outside the Kelvinhall (?) Shopping centre.
the buchanan galleries?
He looks so miserable.
mono/monorail/vegan food cafe
some art gallery or the like
Are you going to Easterhouse?? Weirdo ;)
Come watch us practice.
There's nothing to do in Glasgow. Optimo is for babies.
(The West End and Jamaica St, roughly) in the void known as Sauchiehall Street
also, it's not very far from ABC at all, but if you can get some directions to a bar named Chinaski's, that's great place to drink.
Don't know if or what I'm doing after. Optimo is a maybe, although I've never been and everyone says it's full of trendy indie posers.
which is buckfast and lemonade or something
mono looks reachable from abc
call me or somethiN!
It's fucking freezing here right now!
it used to be EMO CENTRAL
But yeah, if you go round the back of the Borders book shop near the GOMA there's lots of emo-laughin' action to be had.
Glasgow; you've changed, man.
They have a strict no-loitering policy there now and there are secirty people at ll times turning away any groups of teenagers two or more. Which is rubbish as they never did anything wrong...
Central is full of little emos and mini moshers on a Saturday as they all go in for the Cathouse unders.
from anywhere if they look 'threatening'. This rule seems to apply solely to teenage goths/emos/alternative types as I always see gangs of neds allowed to just stand about screaming and playing music on their phones..
i recommend the falafel, and the vegan cheesecake. yummy!
Borders yesterday at about 4ish? I was walking though and there were like, a million people milling around the Borders stairs. I don't mean just kids like usual, i mean EVERYONE.
it took like nine hours on a bus or something, and then we sat in a wetherspoons called The Crystal Palace and i kept seeing buses that said "charing cross" on the front drive past. confusing much?
there's so many lovely pubs in Glasgow as well.
It looks like i'll be in edinburgh tomorrow. I have to visit my grandparents.
I should be back by about 5/6 though.
things i did:
*went to mono. bought a bunch of records at very reasonable prices (got "Dogs" by Nina Nastasia for £3.99). fucking good place - every record they sell is good. not the best range in the world, but its lovely that a place like that can operate without trying to compete with hmv or whatever
*went to avalanche. damn good place too. i got the Happy Go Licky CD for £6. awesome.
*went to the ABC. quite a nice venue really
*went to Optimo. completely not overrated at all. i was only there for about an hour, and that felt like 20 minutes cos it was just so fucking good. i reckon i'll pick some bankholiday in the future and book a megabus up just to go again. anyone else?
*ate deep fried haggis. sick.
*txtd yes_ a few times
*failed to find any buckfast, or anywhere to sell vodka after hours
*got scared whenever i talked to anyone in case they found my accent offensive. but that was ok in the end.
*noticed that glasgow has a ridiculous number of Gregg's bakeries and Subway sandwich shops
*laughed at donald dewar/sven
*walked past borders and checked behind it for emos. one girl walked past with dyed black hair, but otherwise it was emo-free
astounds me. I'm totally up for the bank holiday trip btw - I was at Optimo for about 4 hours and it felt like 5 minutes, SO GOOD
On a bank hols.
but they said i'd have to wait 10 minutes, so i made do with a steak bake
what the hell is a scotch pie anyhows?
although i'm disappointed by the reaction to the haggis supper, thats the one thing i missed out on getting when i was up north at the weekend. I'm very surprised by the lack of bucky too.
greggs >>> any other fast food establishment.
the haggis was sick. as in, "da bomb"
hurrah. i hope it was washed down with irn bru in the absence of bucky.
but its overpriced
It's just a beautiful place to be, in general.
Plus, fat Black Francis might turn up again and busk, like a week ago.
