when you're grown up like.
ever a good idea?
when I go to see my family it IS a 'holiday' for me so I guess every family experience is 'holiday'. God, that's wierd.
I get annoyed spending an hour in her company. Spending an entire holiday with my mother would be the death of me.
but it does depend on what your parents are like.
So I'd say no. We have an annual 'faaaaamlee' holiday at Easter, I usually duck out of it.
if they paid for all food and drink.
Last time I went to Malaysia, me and the missus could go off and do our own thing in the evening, but had the convenience of someone to take us places and have accomodation sorted.
they pay.... you inevitably stay somewhere more decent than you'd be able to afford yourself.... all good. mostly.
that if i went on holiday with my mother she would pay for me.
when we went to NY my mum paid for the hotel, some dinners, the rest we had to split. and we had to buy our own tourbus tickets etc.
i'm a grown up.
to a week. More than this usually results in major family fallouts. Imagine 2 weeks with my nan there as well. I can take family in small doses, but that was pretty unbearable.
in my parents' mates' place in Spain. It's cool having stuff paid for but I have to stick to my 'safe alcohol limits' which is about 2 drinks
from 15-18 i bowed out though.
free food, booze and accomodation. plus fresh air and the possible sight of an eagle. oh yeah...
i wouldn't have have done five years ago though.
although i'm not really one for resort holidays and they are, so maybe not in practise.
this theory only involves my mum, my sister and possibly my sister's boyfriend. we don't do extended family anything really and i'm glad..
my parents it was not good. We stayed in a house in the middle of no-where in Devon. It rained. It was cold. My brother and sister had brought their significant others, I was single.
However, Mr Starshaped & I go back to SA annually and stay with his family. I guess that's going on holiday with family, and that's fine.
I'd go on holday with my Dad no problem, we'd just get drunk and have a laugh. I quite often go down the pub and stand with my Dad and his mates and have a laugh. Unfortunately it's usually them having to laugh as my Dad rips the shit out of me...
People should spend more time with their families in non-family enclosure like pubs and holidays!
it was somewhere with lots to do and my mother had no option to clean anything, ever.
And then the maximum would have to be a week.
It was pretty good because:
-I live so far away normally I don't get to spend much time with them
- they pay for everything on the holiday
- i've been able to visit some pretty cool places I probably wouldn't have gone to (Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia etc)
I wouldn't do it if they did pay for me though.
so nice once you no longer live with them and really miss them. i hope my mom takes my little sister and me on vacation with her when we're both grown.
i hardly ever use "grown," this is a special occasion. it is acceptable as well.
blue jeans and chinos
I spent three weeks in New Zealand with my family over Christmas and now hate them and never want to see them again.
