How was your weekend?
my weekend was good. had a house party last night which was exceptionally fun. friday was pretty standard and on thursday i went to see LC!.
i'd give it a 7/10.
though i'm now on a serious come down from my high alcohol consumption so that's put me on a downer :( oh well
Mostly. I've been working nightshifts all weekend. I sent my C.V to about 50 different employers last week and I only had two interviews out of all of them. For the one interview ( I really liked the sound of the job) the guy kindly pointed out to me that I had a hair roller in the back of my hair. I had trie to go for 50s glam (short curly hair), but I had left one roller in. I had travelled all the way from South London to North London on the tube like that.
I'm not a big fan of rejection. I guess none of us are.
Also, the baby I live with (one year old baby, hippie stoner mother that feeds him frozen blocks of orange lentils) keeps crying ALL the time. And manipulating me into looknig after him. "Oh, if he's in your room just throw him out, he'll be ok...he might cry coz hhe loves being around you but don't worry about it."
"Oh, if you go downstairs don't worry- he's just in the washing machine"
And that post made earlier about living in Brick Lane...well it turns out I could never afford that sort of money.
but the roller, it's a pretty funny story :) once you have a new job and look back on it you will have a sneaky lol
i sent my CV off to some companies and no one has got back to me - bastards! i guess they don't even want to look at me until i have a piece of paper that says i'm smart. figures...
Despite my efforts to look 'normal' remarked, 'oh you're one those creative, quirky girls....you're very fluffy arent you' and winked at me. WINKED AT ME. This was Tuesday, I haven't heard anything since....is this a really bad sign?
You mean a degree?
I HAVE A DEGREE AND EMPLOYERS DON'T CARE. Who doesn't have a degree these days :(
until i know whether i've got a 2:1 or not, dammit!
i *really* don't want to have to go home in June. i don't think i could stomach loving in the far north again, i like the city.
i wish someone would just offer me a good, well paid job so i could stay in Glasgow and be happy.
i used to love going home but recently i've fallen out of love with the place, i think it's 'cause everyone i like moves away
but has a great Friday
mixed bag really, got my ATP Pitchfork tickets too =D SORRRTED
it involved lots of travel around yorkshire, hanging out with friends at other unis, the rare occurence of my family all being in the same place at the same time, ace vegan food in york, meaty pub lunch, lots of beer, dancing to bad indie music in hull, LC!+johnny foreigner, and now i am trying to write a review of an art brut gig.
unfortunately norwich lost 4-0 to leicester :( but at least i didn't spend lots of money on going like i would have if other plans had not materialised :)
as art brut might well say, 'Good Weekend'
It sounds really homely
I went to an alright house party on friday but didn't get nearly as drunk as I wanted to. All the smokers there seem to have made me ill.
Saturday I woke up feeling a bit rubbish intending to do a load of coursework. Instead I watched the Royal Tenenbaums which was probably one of the best films i've ever seen. I then listened to Grimsby Town lose 4-1 to Dagenham & Redbridge on the radio which was rubbish. That was followed by seeing Man Utd win 4-0 against Arsenal though so that made me a bit happier. I then avoided the coursework for the rest of the evening and had an early night, intending on waking up early to complete the imminently due coursework.
I woke up at about 10am and procrastinated even more. I finally began the horrible coursework at 12 and worked on it all afternoon. At 7 I gave up and went to see Los Campesinos and Johnny Foreigner. JoFo were amazing and I would give them 10/10. I bought a shirt from them - it's nice. Los Campesinos were good but Gareth was losing his voice so I would give them 8/10.
I got back home at 11 and since then i've been working on this coursework which is due tomorrow at 3pm. Right now i'm having a short break on DiS. I'd say i'm about 70% done and i'll probably be up until about 5am.
Good: Johnny Foreigner/House Party/Football
Bad: Illness/Horrible Coursework/Procrastinating/Gareth's voice/Football
i am off to bed for the most satisfying sleep ever
Any jobs going in this mysterious media office of yours?
Now I have to go and defrost my windscreens to go to work. Finished at 2200 Friday, start at 0400 Monday.
and unremarkable, however:
Positives: Made plans to move in two weeks = massive stress lifted off my shoulders.
Negatives: Missed a good friends birthday outing due to irrational social phobias.
I fell asleep in the disabled toilets again. Iwoke up on a squashed toilet roll
I'm still looknig for somewhere to live :( Hard work
Tamworth, it's technically West Midlands (but it's actually about 20 miles north-east of Birmingham)
It's a temporary measure though, six months, so I can sort my life out again and then move on in autumn to another large city (at present I'm undecided between Nottingham, Bristol or Brighton).
and JEW and LC! gigs aside, this week is going to be utter shit, I know it
i did nothing except go out on friday night.
this week however, will be ace. after the most boring 7 hours of MY ENTIRE LIFE on wednesday during a "team building exercise" on tuesday where we were told about the changes to the company which will come into place after i've left my job; i decided to ring in sick for another one today. 10-9.30 is just too long a day for me to want to go. it won't make a difference me not being there; instead i'm going to sort out the flat and pack for going home on wednesday night after work, and listen to pulp. not the most exciting day ever, but i have several gigs and stuff in leeds while i'm back.
ignore the first 'wednesday'.
oooh but you may be disappointed about finishing times on wednesday, if the late of the pier gig the other week is anything to go by...
I braved the NME tour on Saturday. I've never been bumped into and tripped over so much at a gig, and I spent most of it pretty much standing at the back. The highlight was seeing a couple probably in their fifties at the mixing desk dancing wildly to the whole Cribs set - no idea if they were the Jarmans or what, but they acted as effective camouflage given everyone who spotted them was too distracted to spot Kate Nash just behind them.
Then I spent most of yesterday transferring 20Gb of stuff downloaded off UKNova I've never got around to watching off my dying PC onto my laptop ahead of transferral to backup. When and why did I come into ownership of the final hour of TVS?
Despite doing very little Friday night, I played my penultimate gig (and my last local gig) with my band. It was good fun, and an original member of Throbbing Gristle was dancing (who has also asked me to join his improv/experimental group)! I'm pretty excited right now :-D
I was working two long shifts and didn't get any of the college work done that NEEDS to be done.
I bought some paint from Games Workshop and a new brush, found some bargains in a charity shop and went to the pub where I was thrashed at pool. Sunday was spent playing Crackdown/Gears of War. The down-point was not realising I'd been outbid on thewarn's Games Workshop shirt. :'(
and by that i don't mean a mis-spelling of okay.
i mean it was oaky.
like an oak tree.
It was alright I 'spose. Drank too much with out having fun, so was too hungover to do stuff during the days.
It was good thanks, 2 superb nights out and I got a haircut.
two nights out including a silent disco dressed as a 60s lady
I have bite marks on my shoulders.
Exlain all !
I can't say too much.
