I didn't do anything! I just wanted to say hi, but noooo, Mr. Reznor is far too important to talk to a hungry fan... I did talk to his band though. And they gave me mcdonald's fries.
I saw the drummer out of Supergrass and the one that isn't Pete in the Libertines (ok I know his name's Carl, I just don't want to admit to knowing their names) in a toilet last night. At the same time. I heard sniffing noises in the cubicle next to me. Not that I'm insinuating anything.
I should send that to popbitch, and add something about Carl asking me where he can find some hot ladyboys...
So far I've met:
Prince Charles.
Ian Mosley and Steve Hogarth (Marillion drummer and singer)
Stuart Bradley from Caterpillar Trail (1980s children's nature show)
All 5 members of Super Furry Animals.
Claire Goose (before she became famous though)
Loads of people in Indie bands from UK and USA.
Richard D James/Aphex Twin (leaning against a wall, looking like he wanted someone to recognise him. I didn't give him that pleasure. Plus he terrifies me)
Ricky Gervais crossing the road. Why did Ricky Gervais cross the road? Dunno, I didn't ask
Chris Morris crossing the road (looking like he didn't want anyone to recognise him. I gave him that pleasure. Plus, he terrifies me)
Lenny Kravitz on Regent Street (no, he wasn't 'gonna go my way')
Jeremy Hardy, looking scruffy
Jenny Eclair talking on a phone
Noel Gallagher on that guitar street, the name of which escapes me, winking at my pretty boss as I walked beside her.
if you live in london, it's cheating .... i remember seeing chris morris in leicester square, chasing after him, realising he'd probably want to murder any adoring fan and gave up. He was wearing rubbish trousers and has shit hair - thing is, you kind of expect him to be wearing a suit, don't you ?
My friends and I saw Claudio Ranieri at Stansted Airport. One of my friends pointed at him (he was about two metres away) and shouted 'Look, it's David Elleray'. I had to point out to him that it was actually Claudio Ranieri. He then agreed to have his photo taken with us.
I also saw three members of Elbow in the 'Old Blue Last' pub on Curtain Road the other day and I also saw Badly Drawn Boy (Badly Grown Beard??) on Old Street. A girl in an incredibly short skirt ran up to him shouting 'it's Badly Drawn Boy!' and then made him speak to her friend on her mobile. He looked a little embarrassed.
members of reuben, engerica, septembre, vex red, hundred reasons, biffy clyro, hell is for heroes, yourcodenameis:milo, chimaira, mastodon, the killers, pitchshifter, hawkwind, clutch, the used (by accident), the evens.
plus arthur brown (of 'i am the lord god of hellfire and i bring you ..fire!' fame).
wow thats like the whole of the current brit-rock scene. and some american bands which reminds me i met Mark Hunter from Chimaira. Have met and had e-mail conversations with Dave from Engerica. Met Dave from InMe...*ahem*...Met Jarcrew. Theyre all coming back now. My girlfriend served Sikth in Woolworths in Stockton. They bought a football (a floater)!!
dave from engerica is a pretty cool guy, was talking to him on monday. album later this year, even though he reckons hes still in debt from the other stuff theyve done... a mate of mine in scotland runs an engerica fansite too
i was wondering when the album was out...i first seen them like 3 years ago and theyve been pretty quite since then, Random singles now and again but there didnt seem to be much happeneing. Crooked Sex is an amazing song like.
I've met Tim Wheeler (he's much smaller than you'd expect), I once bumped into the Cooper Temple Clause in Virgin Megastore in Newcastle and also saw Greg from Delays having a Happy Meal bought for him in Mcdonalds by someone who may well have been his Dad.
I met Bloc Party at a signing but I don't think that counts.
Also, I met Dave Prowse - the man who was in the Darth Vader suit in episodes 4,5 and 6 - on his Athena tour. It cost £10 pounds (!) to get an autograph so my brother and I just took a rather creepy voyeuristic photo through the glass of the entrance.
Still only Wolf and Saracen. Also walked past Jessy Lezzard? Glamour model person. As my mate's mate is her and a load of other talentless hacks PR(?) Maybe...just maybe i could meet her for real if i ask real nice. She looks kind of dirty though.
I met Billy Barty. He was the little guy, like Tattoo from Fantasty Island...but not Tattoo. I dunna remember what show it t'was.
Billy Barty had a roller rink where New Order played. My friend's band was on NO's label and opened. Bernard said, "We played a short set for a short man." Which was kinda funny at the time. Backstage the bands had a food fight. I was repeated pelted with tiny sausage like substances. Oh, sure larf now...but I could have easily lost an eye.
I've seen Bill Bailey live in a little tent in Stockton Festival, I was that close I could smell him! Funny as fuck. Also different time/same place Ardal O'hanlon (Father Dougal in Father Ted) he's a short arse but brilliant!
Shannon Doherty, in a random hick bar in mid-state New York. She was having dinner with her parents and wasn't too pleased with 4 blokes asking to pose for pictures, but she did it all the same.
Several cricketers, notably Shane Warne who told me to fuck off, and David Gower, who was altogether pleasant.
Must be a Derbyshire thing - I've met Tosh Lines as well. The rehab place he went to was just down the road from where I lived. The pub he had his last drink in is a really nice boozer as well.
I've met the squad of Lincoln City FC 1998-99 season, Preston from the Ordinary Boys and Louis Elliott from Kinky Machine/Rialto. I told him he was my hero. I was very, very drunk. He took it all in his stride though.
I used to work at Chelsea FC and met everyone there from 1999 - 2001. Chris Sutton was a boring bastard! Zola was a gent! Also met whilst there - Richard Attenborough, Eric "Monster Monster" Hall, some cunt from Big Brother, lotsa opposition players/managers etc etc
Saw Vanessa Feltz buckling the wheels down on one of those bike taxis around SoHo once.
I too saw David Prowse on his Athena tour (sunday) - again, didnt have the money, so just waved through the window and he kinda smiled back. He's more pasty in real life huh?!
Saw the lead singer from My Vitriol in the Good Mixer, the fat guitarist from Hundred Reasons in the Worlds End (he kinda got well embarrassed that I did a double take and knew I knew him. He was on a date too), Tsunami Bomb in Metros. I've interviewed Kittie and Reef back in my writing days (really nice people), met Biffy Clyro, InMe, Amen, Murderdolls, Slayer, The Donnas and the guy who played Nute Gunray in the Star Wars prequels at various signings.
"I've met the squad of Lincoln City FC 1998-99 season"
They're not really that famous though, really? I mean... people who live in Lincoln couldn't tell you who's on their squad now, nevermind 6 years ago. :P
Not all of them, there are at least 15,000 people who could tell you most of them. Although now half of them have left already, it might prove difficult!
I had a little chat once with Noel Gallagher at a Billy Childish gig. Although the best is when I'd been playing tennis with my dad and his friend and daughter in Chigwell, and as we were getting dressed Zola and Casiraghi stepped out of the shower. Rather embaressingly with just my underwear on I asked them, who were just wearing towels, to sign their autographs for me, which they did, and were really really nice.
Aaaaah Casiraghi, what a conumdrum wrapped in a riddle wrapped in a puzzle you are. We at the Bridge never got to see you properly before your injury....
(although your one goal was against Liverpool AND caused Phil Babb to crush his nuts against a post. F or that, the Blues faithful salute you sir!)
he was a tantastic player in Italy, Lazio had a great strikeforce with him and Mancini up front...was really sad about his injury, although I remember the Phil Babb incident well!
Always mixed feelings, I have, when seeing Phil Babb collide with said post....but it is mainly mirth! I know, was quite sad, but it took him 13 games before that goal, he didnt look exactly comfortable with English footy.
That Phil Babb injury is the worst thing I think i've ever seen. I mean, you can have bones poking out of your legs and things...but fucking hell, the speed he slid into the post...ooh, the image haunts me to this day. The pain...
he was shit though. He got voted the worst ever Liverpool player recently, which is impressive when you consider he had competition from Biscan, Heskey, Cheyrou, Diouf and Diao
ha ha, John Scales, we had him for a few games, a free from Spurs I think. Shite. I think Babb got it because they paid loads for him, plus everyone thought he was going to be amazing.
I've met Robert Plant as well, at his local in Kidderminster. He was a nice chap. I was too drunk to give sensible comment though, so I buggered off pretty sharpish into the Kidderminster streets...
