Fulham 0 - 2 Aston Villa
Newcastle 2 - 1 Middlesbrough (we'll be hanging on right til the end)
Emre and Milner (possibly N'zogbia too, but he's at left back today), Allardyce seemed adverse to letting them get out and attack. So much so he didn't even play Emre and he has been one of our most creative players since we bought him.
didn't go to spurs I reckon. He got skills. I think you might win today (unfortunately!).
and replaced him with barton. bizarre decision.
also, can i just voice my appreciation for the guy commentating chelsea-portsmouth on motd last night? "ashley cole getting a lot of abuse but you expect that when you're playing away from home."
Possibly the funniest thing a commentator has ever said!
that's my license fee justified for the year.
is a beaut and worth tracking down a youtube link for.
'the only drawbacks have been not scoring *any* goals or winning any games, everything else has been positive'
comforting words :S
look like the woman on football italia?
Fear not. I'd love to see us shut the southern media up. Magnifying every little detail to disastrous proportions. Arsenal have lost once at their new stadium. We played them twice in the space of 3 days, crippled with unavailable players, while Arsenal could rotate at the drop of a hat. The Bolton game was 2 days after Keegan's return.
As for the backroom staff/Wise, well it has been needed. We need a proper scouting network/youth development set-up. I don't know whether Wise is necessarily the right person to oversee that, but give him the chance to prove it. The original press conference gave every indication that Keegan's workload would be lightened, yet when it happens, the media portray it as "KEEGAN UNDERMINED".
one disallowed goal, seems like we've got a decent amount of the ball.
the radio does make it sound like boro are hacking away at emre to play on his temper.
I'm with you on the Arsenal thing, how can you possibly objectively assess how things are going when you play an almost invincible team on their own pitch.
"this is a game crying out for an Ambeobi"
Keegan apologists. It was clear that he was going to be a terrible choice and it's proving as such. I can't see this finishing anything other than 0-0 (or possibly 1-0 to Boro with a late goal), and I can't see Keegan lasting past the end of the season. I'm actually starting to get worried about relegation.
there are quite a few more worse teams than you. you're not very good though!
There was an interesting interview with Alladyce on Sky earlier. Quite bitter (somewhat understandably).
his opinion of himself is higher than Everest
until the summer we have very little creativity, aside from Emre, Duff, and N'Zogbia. All these players are left-sided.
We'll finish around 12th, bring some players in, and push on next season, maybe to the top 7 or 8.
a bit past it after all that time he's had out.
Milner is still capable of doing good things for us.
on his end-product...
In general I think he's just knackered. Played all last season, and the Under 21 Euros. Bound to take it's toll a bit.
The main thing is, under Sam we were playing like shit, even at home. Today, and in spells against Arsenal, we've tried to go for it.
We're already looking an improved side, and that's all we can ask.
I wouldn't have given Sam any money myself. Wait till the summer, there'll be a huge amount spent. We tried to spend £8m on Woodgate, but the player turned us down.
around 14th, get a few players in, they'll underacheive, we'll finish about 12th next season, maybe get to the quarter finals of a cup before being drawn against a good side, the inexorable cycle of Newcastle United Football Club continues.
Still, I'm glad we're winning...
surely we can't throw it away now?
We also had a goal wrongly disallowed at the start. By rights it should be 2-0.
*clutches at straws*
Nearly 2-1 there...
He always has a smile on his face
I'm so angry!!!
villa ftw next up, fulham look about as hopeless as wednesday are at the moment :(
I'm completely crushed.
The refereeing today was awful, for both sides. But we actually played quite well and with an actual striker on the pitch probably would have won.
you'll lose at villa park and boro will win fulham next week to regain our position as north east top dogs.
and to think we even put lee dong gook on to give you a chance...
your home attendances are?
North east top dogs. You are joking aren't you? Ofcourse you are how silly of me.
Should be a good match
it's hotting up already, first booking!
Apparently there's a real rivalry between the two sides.
appears to be taking the postmodern approach to the virtual studio concept.
