tomorrow. What advice does anyone have to ensure its not embarassingly bad? thanks
and another guy we both get on with well, me probably knowing him better, and none of us have practised together before
and my friend i have seen play and he is better than me, he still seems up for it thought so i cant be too bad. and anyway the idea is to play hardcore so its not too tricky i dont think.
with tapedeck and that right?
the place was full of quite young people which i found pretty strange/funny. if i had have known i would have said hi
Should be: MY band. Let those fuckers know who's boss from the git-go!
the band name is
'the fucktherave experience'*
*may or may not be true
worry too much if its not amazing straight away - first time playing together so everybody has to find their feet and gel together.
just enjoy it!
its the second and third rehearsals and so on that you'll need to worry about!
decide a sound early on
unless you all listen to the same music
this will help avoid confusing funk coming in from one member later
u also need to get equipment
assuming you have that, relax, have a good time about it, have a break halfway and chill out and write some songs that you're pleased with
Because one of the melodic instruments (i.e. not drums) should take a song (or at least ideas for one) to the practice. Then you can just jam around with it, have fun and maybe have a song written by the end.
(one being me) and a bass. Weve agreed to practise a black flag song so we have soemthing to jam with to begin with.
and see where it goes. There's no reason why it should be embarassing or anything. At some point you'll need to have a conversation about 'direction' but you probably don't need to worry about that yet.
i am looking forward to it lots actually, but im a bit rubbish so hope im not too rubbish!
this will automatically make you the most important band member
and have this generation's Slanted & Enchanted on my doorstep by, say, Friday. No pressure, though.
This is fine and normal.
band 3 of 3. I'll dance around with my bass while sadpunk plays some guitar and thesoundofbastards says 'LOLocaust' or something.
Buy a dirt cheap Mini-Disc and use the headphones or something. If you can take a rehearsal home and upload it to the internet for the rest of the band within a day or so you'll all improve massively (assuming they all listen to the recordings).
Fully agree with this one. Get a wee MD recorder off ebay/find one lying in a cupboard somewhere. Buy one of those wee omni electret mics outta maplin for £15, and you got yourself a handy wee setup for keeping a record of what you've done. Definitely good for songwriting quality control also.
If in doubt, just take along a Big Muff and turn everything up til nobody can hear how crap you might be :)
sounds like ringside on a thursday night
i sort of can
