remember how videos used to be?
oh. my. god.
i don't even skate so much anymore, but i need this video.
looks amazing. I love skateboarding, i was just never any good at it (outside of Tony Hawks on the ps2 lol). I did some music for a skate video in America once *chuffed*
what was it?
It was a dvd that went out free with a magazine over there. Can't remember the name :S
that was pretty damn awesome.
m83=perfect film music ever.
were my way in to indie music.
i first heard explosions in the sky on a toy machine video, belle and sebastien on a blueprint vid, same with joy division, interpol, lone pigeon and so so many others.
i really wonder how high the budget of this video is, because it looks so sexy.
They used the First Breath After Coma (about 5 minutes of it) over the end credits montage.
Generally a lot of Skate videos have great music - Cliche's 'Bon Appetit' has Storm by GY!BE over one section, and check the music in Fully Flared: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fully_Flared
Not all great, but varied, and there's a lot of good stuff on there.
From the album Before the Dawn Heals Us.
But I found that fucking hilarious.
i mean...exploding stair sets? the most overblown music in the world?
That was pretty spectacular...
I'm now maybe built a bit better for it. I used to be a little tubby thing so doing heelflips looked pretty incongruous on me.
is pretty much the only thing i can do.
let's start again together! i havn't skated since summer. keep log books of our progress.
a trick a week.
And snap, heelflips was the best thing i could do, and even then only on flat ground going really slowly. Woo!
And now i've got cash i can actually afford decks and stuff. Conquering my fear of skate shops is the new "conquering fear of indie record shops".
10 millions perfect nollie flips...then i just totally lost them.
i hate when that happens. used to have such a nice shop in southampton, but then route-one came along and all the old customers went there and the old skater-owned shop shut down :(
that really pissed me off.
fucking incredible. :D
I <3 skateboarding, haven't done it in ages. I'd probably kill myself trying to do it now.
i can't stop moving with excitement about getting this video.
best skate video since 'SORRY', better special effects than YEAH RIGHT.
I think i've lost the sense of recklessness i had. The idea of even taking a bad fall scares me a lot. I miss the good ole days when I used to do really lame "jackass" copys like jumping off shed roofs and stuff. good times.
We constructed this kind of 'skate course' (cringe) out of various bits of metal pipe, a big wooden spindle, some planks and stone bollards to jump and grind on. It was a death trap, but great fun. Ah, those were the days. Anyone got any pics of their board?
but i've got a DEATH patrick melcher board.
the tail is all but shot away due to too many 5.0s and bluntslides, though.
they is my tricks of choice.
although, it turned into a 'ER' board after too many nose/tail slides. Mine's got a chip out of the back after I kicked it in frustration. It's completely sanded down and covered in ska punk stickers. :S It was only a cheap one though. My trick of choice was: don't fall off and the nosestall.
I've lost it. How the hell do you lose a skateboard? If my dad's chucked it out i'm gonna wreck him.
but a really good one, mind. Was really nice.
some bearings i can't remember
It was pretty alright.
i'm a big fan.
because the tricks are more spectacular (not that I could really do many myself).
Pretty cool video though, I wish I had put more effort into skateboarding. Tended to just sit on it in stupid races down hills.
Possibly the great bit of skate footage ever made.
all i could do were kickflips.
i did a kickflip to darkside once. Which was the best thing i ever did.
And before I'd even clicked on the link I knew it would be Fully Flared. The amount of hype for it has been unbelievable - they say it's one of those videos that progresses skateboarding along.
skateboarding is good.
I haven't been skating for about 5 years, but recently I've wanted to get out there again and this. I'll still be bloody awful, but so what. All we ever used to do was try and clear gaps, stair sets and skate on the roof of our village school, Ollies are all you need lol.
just confirms to me that it is a good idea.
It's no Animal Chin.
They actually did it with real explosives no?
Also, Spike Jonze is involved in directing it!
Episode 2 is Chris Haslams part and its amazing.
Vice TV have a show called Epicly Later'd which is pretty good, lots of interviews with skaters.
http://www.vbs.tv/player.php and click on "shows" then "culture" and it should be there.
is great.. i love skateboarding and dont do it enough anymore, probably as the place i moved to for uni is wank for skating! shame i was reet good haha
anyone seen the spine skateboarding video?
its called 'a little bit country'
This has me totally hyped up about skating again. I'm gonna get another board in the summer.
