Basically in July I shall be running in the Bananaman 10K (10 km, about 6 miles) race which is held every year in aid of Leukaemia Research. Some other people from this very message board will also be taking part.
Right now I would love it if as many people as possible from this site or wherever else would take part in this race as the more people that take part in this then the more money which is raised for the cause.
I chose this particular race as it's held in London which is a good central location in terms of people from this site and also it's 6 months away so there's plenty of time to train. Also the distance should be acheivable for nearly everyone if they've done some training.
Right now I'm really unfit so this would also be a good way to get into shape. Frankly though it's not a race and even if someone walked the entire distance and raised some money then that would be fantastic.
We will be starting group training sessions in London in the next few weeks (coached by Brooner) and there has even been talk of a video blog so you can watch us all collapse in tiredness and laugh at us running.
So then, if anyone else would like to take part in this race it would be ace as the more money raised the better and it should be great fun as well as getting us physically fit.
There's some information on this website here:
The details for this years race haven't been finalised but you can pre register for the race.
I may be mercilessly bumping this thread, especially when I need people to sponsor me!
