ooo...no keira. i'm going to see there will be blood tonight. awesome!
aside for the inexplicable inclusion of 'Michael Clayton' as a serious contender.
i really didn't think much of that film but then again i did walk out halfway through.
that little girl from atonement get nominated? she was just weird and annoying. you dont need acting chops to just stare at people a bit and be irritating.
she was great. didn't annoy me at all.
Javier Bardem doesnt win an ocsar, i will be very, very surprised.
also, it's a shame jonny greenwood was eligible for nomination. meh.
yes, thats what i meant.
hasn't exactly got much competition has he
He is amazing in Eastern Promises
don't think his role is 'weighty' enough for the oscar types
favourite actors. he deserves to win for just being great in everthing he's ever been in.
the guy is astounding
reviews, so I don't know why that's in there.
Can't believe the Jesse James film isn't in there more. Much better than Atonement.
I loved every second of it. Couldn't you at least appreciate the cinematography or the heartwrenching assassination?
but it was deadly boring...and the overbearing narration! casey affleck was great, i'll give you that.
No, it wasn't, it was like The Godfather set in the 19th century....the politics, treachery and brutality was pure Corleone!
And yes, Casey Affleck was quite brilliant and definitely deserves to be rewarded. I think Brad Pitt also gave the best performance of his career, so he should have nomination.
didn't really pick up on any of that. was just very disappointed. just found it very slow and the narrative structure too cumbersome.
90% on rotten tomatoes? also the director seems quite hollywood friendly. its pretty good though, i'd be surprised if it won but its a worthy enough film idve though. agree about the jesse james thing, it was great, hmmm.
cos, bitch can't act.
but she's actually really good in atonement.
so refuse to believe it. REFUSE!
though i don't really like the character anyway so maybe she'll be fitting for it.
wouldn't say she deserves an oscar though.
to think she was crap too but she surprised me in atonement. she's perfect for the role (of a posh toff) so maybe that's why. still think she's annoying though.
as i don't think i could stand not being able to not stand her.
love it if the Original Song from Once beat 3 from Enchanted.
I hope Philip Seymour Hoffman wins Best Supporting Role, such a diverse actor.
Art Design to Sweeney Todd i reckon.
Norbit nominated for best makeup ha!
I think Ratatouille Has to win best animated feature film.
Sicko to win best doco.
and Juno ftw across the board.
hope ellen page wins for juno. that would be amazing. christie will probably get it though.
as much as i love the Frames, people have no idea how UNoriginal this freaking song is. IT SOUNDS LIKE EVERY OTHER FRAMES SONG.
damn glen. DAMN HIM. DAMN HIM AND HIS FRAMES PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL MASQUERADING AS A LOVE STORY!!
I'm sure it'll be DDL as he is supposed to be astounding in the new film. Viggo Mortensen was absolutely brilliant in Eastern Promises though so it seems a shame that he will miss out. It's not really an Oscar film though.
made it onto the list but he was very good.
i never usually pay attention to anything outside of the main categories but sweeney todd better win best costume.
Julie Christie is being nominated for so many things, Away from her was a staggeringly good film.
but i know i'd get really upset watching it :(
but the acting is so so good.
are they supposed to be rewarding only American movies? if so why do you see "la môme" nominated in so many categories? and if not why are there practically only American movies?
The French must be pissing themselves to see that movie nominated so many times...
