what is it like? I've never been, but just blagged a free ticket to the artrocker thing there tonight.
worst venue in london bar none...corporate toss...still, if the ticket was free, have a good time
It's one of my favourite venues! Good size, proper 'shape' (i.e. not the Mean Fiddler), two bars, nice upstairs bit... can't see the problem!
You're full of shit. Terms like "corporate toss" don't mean anything when put next to the best sound system in London. Bands sound crushingly heavy in that venue.
That said, I'd be wary of going to a club night there, or seeing any weedy acoustic troubadours, which I reckon are best suited to a less roomy venue.
it's upstairs in a small shopping centre. it's ok. Go in, go up stairs, go in main room, bar along left and stage right at the end. You can lean you can lean yourself and your pint on the wall/shelves at the back and still see the stage if you can't be arsed going down the front.
Due to it being Carling sponsored, the choice of drinks ain't great, but you should be there for the music.
My only complaint is that occasionally they have the air conditioning on at such full blast that it can be genuinely cold in there if you are standing in the wrong spot.
I'm genuinely excited about seeing These New Puritans for the first time, so I'm sure the venue wont pose much of a problem... Hopefully.
..i think, sorry!
I wanted to avoid going to the Amersham to see them on Friday...GAH
comes to mind. Good sound though
It's not the grungiest of places. But I've never had a problem with the sound there.
