Horrid things happening close to home.

dark_truffles [Edit] [Delete] 11:37, 18 January '08

A guy I work with told me last night that in December he witnessed the murder of an eighteen year old guy by fifteen boys, all twelve or thirteen. They were throwing stones at him and pushing him about in a busy area late at night. He tried to get into a taxi to escape, but the taxi driver refused to let him because he had blood on his face. The boys then stabbed him with a broken Buckfast bottle, right in front of lots of witnesses and ran off laughing and caught a bus. John, the guy I work with, ran over to help the victim, apparently when turned onto his side, blood just poured out of every orifice. The police managed to catch all fifteen boys, who have since pleaded guilty to murder. The reason for it? The eighteen year old looked somewhat effeminate.

This upset me so much, mostly because of how near this is to my house. I'm always around this area at night, often on my own. There are always groups of neds hanging out; fighting and drinking, but I usually feel quite safe because there are other people about too. This has made me think loads. It seems much more frightening and real when you hear something like this from a source outside the media. Why do people partake in mindless violence??? :(
