i havent heard this since sept 97.
have you done something bad?
for reasons to do with hubris, arrogance and hype, and it happened to be the day of a birthday dinner that my pals had arranged for me.
Somebody had bought me BHN as a present, we put it on, and by common consensus it was removed by about track 4. I played it once more, all the way through to ts painful end.
i remember being pissed off, as it was released a couple of days after/before my birthday, i can't remember, as it had a big date on it and i was like 'it would have been well cool if it had had my bday date on it'
I was more concerned about going to Our Price to buy this than i was about getting my results
is my fave oasis record
total artistic control, they fucked up loads on it, but still it agrees with my opinion on a good riff:
"why not just keep repeating it?"
well done, lads
was the greatest song ever
it's like being gang raped in both earholes.
I hope, I think, I know....and d'you know what I mean.
I could listen to about 60% of this and like it still.
the best track oasis ever recorded!!!
although i haven't listened to it for a while.
Fade In/Out is a very good song though. And Stand By Me is quite good too...and i still like D'you Know What I Mean
I think I'll have to listen to it when i get home!
is that it's still better than any Oasis album that followed it, despite all the 'return to form' stuff that accompanies every Oasis album release since.
its the one I can listen to in the most comfort now, the earlier ones make me think 'christ, overplay', the later ones are shit, Be Here Now is that mild cry of 'wtf' between their peak and their hideous descent.
Plus Fade In/Out and D'you Know What I Mean and My Big Mouth are pretty ace :)
its totally completely falt.
like theyve bleached everything.
Theyve put that thing that gets rid of clicks and crackle on the record about 50 times or summet.
Its an awful record with a couple of nice tunes.
in the last 10 songs on the office ipod (of about 4 million) 2 have been from be here now while its on random.
and its getting better man
like a memory of child abuse.
I bought this on the same day as I bought The Prodigy's Fat Of The Land. Both on cassette.
in years when we were trying to sell some compilation album at work.
I was better than I remembered.
learning to play that on guitar for a band practice.
the other week on the way to Wembley in Ikea. It has dated horribly
My favourite track = Don't Go Away
We didn't find anything in Ikea
some of the songs go on a bit, but apart from that it's a god record. m second favourite oasis album.
girl in the dirty shirt is probably my favourite track. some people say it's like a she's electric or a digsy's diner (i.e. naff tracks on the album). but it's so much better than both of them, and liam's voice sounds amazing on it.
I can't listen to it all, but what I can listen to is streets ahead of the punky indie rubbish our bands are producing today.
Stand By Me, I Hope I Think I Know, and Girl In The Dirty Shirt are good songs. All Around The World too.
It's pretty fascinating, seeing as everyone claims to hate it. The way I see it, Heathen Chemistry was so bad, everyone just forgot about it. Therefore, it is clearly worse. Standing On The Shoulder of Giants too, I'm guessing...
only when i think about it: they arent all bad either.
although all the best songs since be here now seem to have noel singing. i'm not sure what that means, but i think it's true.
It's nice in small doses.
A bit like cocaine....
Oasis album. There's quite a lot of good/great songs on it. Songs! Proper songs! The type that nobody writes anymore.
Standing on The Shoulders of Giants is better than Heathen Chemistry. I think that incorrectly tends to get labelled as their worst record.
