That damn near drove me to laughter/tears
and it pisses me off.
That's awful. I'm not a big fan of PETA anyway, they always seemed a bit too militant for my liking.
Or aweful that someone is silly enough to start a protest site. It would be cruel to keep alive the ones that they kill, most probably.
It probably wouldn't be so bad if they didn't go around forcing the issue of animal rights into everyone's faces all the time. Just makes them seem a bit hypocritical.
"Not counting the pets PETA spayed and neutered, the group put to death over 97 percent of the animals it took in during 2006."
Right, so that basically means that they put down most of the animals that they get that are seriously ill. Where's the problem in that?
The figures that they use are supposedly PETA's own.
Their argument is that PETA prefer to spend their time/attention/money on scaring people into abandoning meat/dairy/animal 'exploitation' as a whole and that they really aren't that bothered about the actual animals that come into their care.
they would only get the most effed up animals in their care, so of course they'd euthanize (sp?) them. healthy animals that are just needing to be rehomed would never go into the care of PETA in the first place.
i'd rather hang out with one of them than someone from
'the Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the full range of choices that American consumers currently enjoy. In addition to malicious animal-rights activists, we stand up to the "food police," environmental scaremongers, neo-prohibitionists, meddling bureaucrats, and other self-anointed saints who claim to "know what's best" for you'
who made that website...
people who willingly take on the word and concept 'consumer' need a slap. people who think that consumer choices are real choices are downright dangerous.
that would be 'people'
free choice cannot be made without the full amount of information possible about the product you are buying and the fair hearing of all arguments. Groups such as PETA and Greenpeace, while I'm sure theyd welcome market restrictions, nonetheless serve to promote free choice in consumption, instead of the basic one-sided view that everyone would have if they did not exist.
secondly, PETA still do ALOT of good work in terms of raising awerness and i really think they should keep that their main focus and leave re-homing animals ect to smaller local groups. PETA do an amazing job at educating people. Nearly every vegetarian (who hasnt been vegetarian since birth) had been influenced by PETA's campaigns
or scared into doing it?
I dont have a problem with people not eating meat, but it seems PETA seem to try and shock people into not eating meat, or similar tactics rather than allowing people to make their own decisions based on unbiased information.
But I'm sure the reply will be something along the lines of "Squares like you just find the inbiased information scary!"
to quit eating meat/dairy unless they get shocked/bullied into it.
i WISH someone would bully me into not eathing cheese :(
that probably sounds weird, haha, but it's the only way i could ever quit again.
it may not sound right from the human point of view to be so pushy, but PETA care about the animals, and if animals could talk they'd defo be all like "please don't kill me man! let's work something out!"
should people be shocked/bullied into accepting other things too? That could be a justification for dictatorships and loads of other undesireable things.
but i sure do like it personally :P
I didn't know what peta meant till a while ago.
But yeah, these guys are gay. It reeks of guilty meat eaters trying to get back at veggies for being "self righteous" or whatever.
"YEah, well you know you guys that are making a conscious decision to do something you believe will make a positive difference? YOU GUYS SUCK! Stop thinking you're so good and shit! Don't get ideas above your station!
bugger off. it's tasty, and doesn't make me feel bad, as long as it's not the obescenely cheap stuff.
Veggie alien tongue typer!
...because they are PETA.
But, if this was some other organisation butchering our furry friends who do you think would be front of the queue to condemn it?
My guess would be err......PETA.
Unless you're saying that PETA would be deliberately blind to this. In which case I wouldn't really know.
or because it happens to be financially experient for them to dispose of animals that have been entrusted into their care rather than go to the expense of looking after them?
That is unless you are suggesting that over 97% of the animals that PETA receives are at death's door.
and i know you're smart enough to know this too!
they were looked after before being put down.
You seriously believe that they kill those animals because they're all at the point of death rather than because they're looking to save money?!
Fuck me! They're an animal welfare group, who spend half their time telling people to give them mistreated animals!
and most would need to be put to sleep.
have you ever worked in even a normal animal shelter? normal ones get loads of effed animals, i can only imagine what sort of animals PETA gets...
The last line of defence for the guily.
Is that a new crime?
You seem to be suggesting that PETA are in some sense infallible.
Granted I don't eat meat regularily, but if I decided to cut out meat entirely it wouldn't be because PETA scared me into doing it- likely it would be for health reasons.
I thought the SPCA had a non-euthanasia policy anyways. I'm not sure if it's a fair comparison.
non-euthanasia policy for healthy and healthy-minded animals.
he's not at all
...say something very complimentary about his girlfriend's loyalty.
They only show the adopted/euthanized bit, but PETA has the number of animals that were reclaimed by their owners as well as adopted.
2006: 9960 recieved, 1946 killed.
and I don't agree with tactics that ivolve protesting to six year olds or whatever. But this group claims that "only you know what's best for you" and "Defending enjoyment is what we're all about!" Animal nuts or hedonists...that is the question.
PETA = Fucking hippy cunts who'll stab a man to death to save a snail
PETA 2 = Normal people trying to stamp out unecessary animal cruelty
I'm gonna have a burger just to fuck with them now.
If only I could put you down, Alex.
then take it away from you, then give it to PETA then make you watch whilst they stab it.
Then we'll go for some steak, yeah?
group gets most of its funding from...
It's a front for People for the Ethical Tretment of Tofu
I can't fucking stand you so please refrain from pming me, and trying to form relations with me. You're a fucking cock and I can't stand you.
What are you on?
that you're not an idiot in real life, i don't see how you can keep up such a ridiculous online persona so consistently without actually being a proper twat.
that you are a miserable, humourless husk of a woman.
Which is just as well.
youve been PWNed
or the delusional girl who reckons I just PM'd her?
don't argue please.
It's too confusing.
many of the donors want to remain anonymous.
r then, and be done with it!
I don't give a toss where it comes from or how it's made.
I don't think Tigers are overly concerned about their prey.
I don't see the need to justify my decision to eat meat beyond "It tastes nice and allows me to keep a balanced diet".
And the meat I eat keeps my diet balanced.
It's like black magic or something.
Tigers couldn't survive on a vegetarian diet. Humans can.
