anyone see it? interesting or not?
annoying, i missed the programme the guy did last night
middle aged men expaining the artic monkeys and wyclef jean
was especially excruciating.
Is that her a(u)nti(e)? Christ that is...
He's the guy who did that project with getting rappers to work with an orchestra last year. I missed that too, though, so no idea what that was like.
Some bits definitely worked better than others. The series was divided into episodes on Melody, Harmony, Rhythm and Bass, and where he was talking about stuff that's well-understood in musicological terms - mainly Harmony - it worked. But where he wasn't, it didn't - he's a composer (wrote the theme tunes to Blackadder and Red Dwarf I seem to remember) rather than a music analyst.
The others were pretty unremarkable.
knowing me knowing you.......AHA
I couldnt get alan partridge outta my head
How Music Works was on Channel 4 roundabout this time last year, and was very good, contrasting classical with pop music to show how different aspects of music work, and it was very informative and entertaining. Hosted by Howard Goodall, who didn't try to sing.
How Pop Works was on the last night on BBC4, and didn't really explain how pop works at all, but pointed out some interesting bits nonetheless. Hosted by Charles Hazelwood, who did try to sing and was rubbish.
