Good / bad?

I feel awful. One of my best friends is having his stag do in Amsterdam over three days; problem is the cost, which has prohibited me attending. £250+ for the jaunt, before things like drinks and food outside of scheduled activities are included. Probably £400 then, all in.

As he's one of my longest and dearest friends in all the world I'd have loved to have seen him on his way in a drunken haze... but I find this culture, I guess, of jetting off for these things incredibly frustrating. Restricts who can attend, and costs a bomb - anyone been in a similar position and found themselves unable to go on a stag because the groom in waiting has wanted to go to Barcelona rather than Brighton?

(I will see the guy at his wedding, obvs... that's in Kent.)
