seriously? where did you hear this?
This is a bad decision. He wasn't doing an amazing job but he needed some time and for god's sake, exactly WHICH top manager is going to come to the club knowing that if they don't make us awesome within 4 months they'll be sacked?
This kind of short-termism embodies the sort of attitude and outlook which goes a long way towards explaining why we're doing so badly.
A Toon fan who talks sense?!
This is the worst decision the club has made since sacking Bobby Robson.
I'm off down the bookies to stick a fiver on Sunderland finishing higher up the league.
housemate uses some forum were people who work (i guess) for newcastle football club and they always know stuff before its announced. But its on sky sports news now.
liverpool forum is best though... seriously, either very close freinds of players post stuff on these forums or people who work within the club.
says STORY TO COME SHORTLY
Also, the timing of this is just staggeringly awful. In the middle of the TRANSFER WINDOW? Seriously? Now we can't even sign any new players until we get a new manager settled in.
as much as I think Allardyce is a ridiculous fucking twat and I'm glad he has failed (and hopefully that will be it for him managing in the Premiership), it's a bit of a stupid decision.
At the moment they're just below mid-table and mediocre; when they get another manager they'll spend another £40 million and still be lower mid-table and mediocre. They're not a big club, are not accustomed to success and should just accept - like clubs like Fulham do - that they're lucky to be in the Premiership and they should be grateful if they can retain that status.
Ideal thing to happen now: Shearer takes over, takes them down to the Championship and they 'do a Leeds' (albeit without the Wise renaissance).
if this is good or not depends who comes in. Please god not Mclaren! I will be very surprised if it's Shearer
What the fuck do they expect him to do? I'm actually more angry about this than I should be. Neither Chris Mort nor Mike Ashley are football men, and they're just continuing where the old board left off
you big walrus cunt.
may as well be sooner rather than later
did he 'need to go eventually'?
a) he prizes statistics above flair
b) he is workmanlike
c) he alienates the club
d) his signings thus far have been terrible
e) he would never be loved
f) better he goes now than wastes money in the window
if one man can contrive to get them embroiled in a relegation battle it's him :)
can't really exaggerate how amazing it would be if Shearer took them down to where they belong. For some reason I'm convinced he'll be a shit manager.
will not improve them at all. They'll stay mid-table as it's all they can ever be until they pull their head out of their arse and realise they are not a big club.
Allardyce needed at least 5 years to bring a trophy to Newcastle. It takes time to build a winning and team and ethos. Chelsea bought their way to the top, but they were already regularly winning things before Abramovic gave them a boost.
I can almost see Morinho or Lippi taking on the challenge, but my money is on McLaren or Shearer.
I hope they get relegated.
5 years, I don't believe that I and suspect most other Newcastle supports would have been a lot happy with him if he actually tried to play football. The players he had at the club should have been good enough. It has been mostly his signings that have played badly this season. Alan Smith is not a midfielder he struggles to be a striker, he paid 6 million for Enrique but wouldn't play him instead he played an inexperienced player at left back there is something wrong there. And don't even get me started on Joey fucking Barton!!!!!
This is so annoying. The more and more I see and hear about Mike Ashley, the more he strikes me as a fat rich man desperately trying to collect as much popularity as he can
He's a Premiership chairman, yet wears a home strip to every game. Then he wears that home strip and sits with the fans, rather than in the directors box. That might seem funny, but it's also pretty lame. Apparently he goes out drinking with Newcastle fans too, and now he's sacked Allardyce and is going to bring in an ex-player with fuck all managerial experience because that's what some dickhead fans are calling for
Newcastle are fucked
He is not the chairman, chris Mort is in charge. Ashley is playing a massive game of Champ Man.
Shearer wont take the job cos he doesn't want it, we dont want him to have it and the club aren't going to offer him it.
I'm sick to death of fuckers on Sky or radio 5 today telling us who we want as manager. No one I know wants Shearer, only charva muppets on sky want him.
I was very unhappy with Allardyce's regime, but I fully expected him to see the season out..
Might just improve when the Newcastle fans realise they are not that good and never have been and that just because they get large home gates (now) doesn't mean they are entitled to success.
were chanting and applauding Sam Allardyce at Stoke the other day, making more noise than the City fans for large parts of the game.
Any of us with half a brain don't expect instant success - top half of the table would be nice, but avoiding relegation is the priority. There was no indication we were going down this year so why change anything until the Summer at least?
Sky Sports News are endlessly cycling footage of a handful of braindead idiots outside St James on Sunday yelling for Shearer. FOR FUCKS SAKE.
Let's go the whole hog and get them relegated! Come on!
i echo many of the sentiments above tho newcastle are a 'big' club in terms of fanbase, tho certainly not in terms of talent.
this may be a reasonable decision if they had someone decent on the sidelines, but shearer?!?!? fuck me i'm glad i don't support newcastle.
should have stuck with allardyce.
8 managers gone this season now. it's unbelievable :(
that is all i have to say.
is that Sam had the players to do a lot better this season so far. He wasted the easiest fixture list I can remember us ever having. He didn't play to the strengths of our best players. Played Smith in EVERY game, despite him doing nothing but get booked.
Nobody's fault but his own.
You have played half the teams in the league and got more points than at this stage last season haven't you?
The only away match against the top 4 was last weekend.
We lost at Derby, Blackburn, Wigan, Reading, at home to Pompey, Man City, Liverpool, scraped a lucky win at home to Birmingham, away at Fulham, a lucky draw at home to Derby, a lucky draw away at Sunderland...
All this playing shit football. Not one game out of this lot did we deserve to win. Against Liverpool we had one shot on target at home, and that was offside. That was the moment I started to lose patience. At home to Man City, yeah we had a couple of shots on target, but lost 2-0. We had two holding midfielders playing. At home. Emre on the bench repeatedly, despite looking more creative than the likes of Smith, Geremi, Barton etc put together. The likes of Owen and Martins looking shit, because of the lack of service.
He deserved to go, simply because he wasn't learning from basic mistakes, against relatively easy teams. With our upcoming fixtures, we were/are heading to the relegation zone. Why let him do any more damage?
but i'm not sure why Newcastle fans expected (or deserved) any better.
He needed time.
I'd have taken "fair to middling". Sam wasn't even delivering that.
at the moment
Getting beat by Derby, Wigan and Reading and drawing with Derby and Stoke with the players he's got there just isn't good enough!
He lost 10 matches in total out of the 24 he managed in, drew 6 and won 8.
They had 2 wins in the last 13, both of which were through last minute goals.
who's going to fulfil the role of requisite "nasty sod" at newcastle now?
first fat freddy shepherd leaves, now fat sammy allardyce is gone...
with their shit team where do they expect to be? The Newcastle board are beyond clueless, as are the fans if they expect to be anywere higher.
we can see the slide, as has been said above we've been shit and not got results against a load of crap. He'd lost the players.
If the board has lost confidence in him they might as well get shot now.
but BFS was not the man to do it
that lot. How much have they blown on compo for sacked managers now?
awful, negative manager.
he's going to either turn down the job and break a load of geordie's hearts or take it and actually have to show he knows something.
