For reasons not especially known to myself I'm watching the BBC's "The One and Only" where they find the best tribute act in the country. I've got various problems with this show but anyway...

There's a girl on there auditioning to be their Diana Ross. She's 22 and has just said something along the lines of "I've left my family and friends behind in Middlesborough and this is what I've moved to London to do..."

This worries me. It's a gloried Stars in their Eyes and I'm utterly unconvinced anyone'll make a long-term career out of pretending to be someone else, or at least not one financially-lucrative enough to justify abandoning friends and families.

I'm sad about the disappointment I fear she faces in life...
