I'm fairly sure I bought this up when he originally came on the scene, but it bears mentioning again:
Alisher Usmanov is a Uzbek billionnaire who went to jail in the 80s for assorted filthy business shit that no doubt contributed into making him Russia's 18th richest man.
He was pardoned later on when Uzbekistan's dictator Islam Karimov came to power (when questioned about this, his lawyers are wont to claim that he was released "after Gorbachev took office" - feel the connotation).
It is a complete coincidence that Usmanov's dad and Karimov are old buddies and that Usmanov himself has done bizness with Karimov's daughter, Gulnara. And an even bigger coincidence that Usmanov's Obi-Wan growing up was Gafur Rakimov - big dick in Uzbekistan's mafia and one of the people who ensures that 99% of every smackhead in Britain is shooting up with heroin trafficked through Uzbekistan.
Usmanov also owns Kommersant newspaper, which used to be owned by fellow Russian billionnaire Boris Berezovsky until the Kremlin decided it would rather have a newspaper that said whatever it told it to say. So if you wanted to know, for instance, that Usmanov is now one of Arsenal FC's biggest investors, you could find that there.
If you wanted to know everything else in this post, you're shit out of luck.
Watch out for this MF.
