this may be the last chance you have to let anyone know. What song do you want played at your funeral?
thinking about something totally weird like Funky Town by Lipps Inc.
Electrelane's cover of More Than This would be a good choice. Only the Peel Session version mind.
MAKE EM CRY, THE BASTARDS.
by The Zombies. For no other reason than I really like this song.
The Littlest Hobo
I always cry when I hear that.
And maybe Minerals Made Me if there's time.
the Thomas The Tank Engine theme tune, like in The Mighty Boosh, only sincerely and unironically.
Abide with me
Sons of the brave
if i've died of loneliness
or love will tear us apart
if i've died in a circumstance driven by passion and heartache.
and is it infectious? cos I think I've got it
of diseases triggered off by loneliness
like lack of personal care
i.e. obesity or ingrown toenails and such
or just depression.
i wouldn't mind dying of loneliness.
if you die of something else?
i am not wanting this to happen to you for a very long time, just to clarify.)
long life and prosperity to us all, eh :)
something else would have to be either romantic or really heroic or both- like saving an elderly couple from a fire in their cottage but dying in the process.
Enobarbus dies of a broken heart in 'Antony and Cleopatra'.
to remind everyone they will die
'So your black cloud will come,
And press you to the ground,
The air will leave your chest
Your faith and where you're found,
You're finally standing still
And your fingers all go numb,
Get higher on your hill
So your big black cloud will come
Your big black cloud will come'
none of this celebrating life nonsense
Gregory Isaac's version. Mainly cause I had to go to loads of funerals when i was a kid for a people I'd never met and I figure they deserve a moment of fun in exchange for not shouting too loudly.
by the one like Bob Marley
Pressure Drop by Toots and the Maytals
And The Highwayman by johnny cash's supergroup the highwaymen
because it was number one in the charts the day i was born.
wants Don't Stop Me Now by Queen.
I think Freebird by Lynrd Skynyrd would be pretty interesting.
the congregation have to sit through all of it?
The way Sam's mum from Love Actually had Bye Bye Baby by the Bay City Rollers playing.
Not that I'd necessarily want that, but I'd rather have something upbeat that'd sum me up and have people roll their eyes and say 'typical Tess' with a smile creeping round their lips than play some tearjerker that'd make faces go like this :(
Funny, I love melodrama and yet would rather have people laughing than crying at my funeral.
something miserable. I don't want a dry eye in the room. And if they can't cry i hope at least they are miserable. Or bored.
I'd probably go for About Today by the National. Hands Away by Interpol, Bright Lights by Chow Chow and Sadness On My Back by HOTS.
I told my family this recently as the last thing i'd want is: "Oh, he liked "Indie" Music, lets play an Oasis song."
I also had a beautiful conversation with a friend for a couple of hours about our funerals. The problem is I can't remember anything she said. And I doubt she can remember what I said.
iLiKETRAiNS - Death is the End
As they send my casket into the firey bit for my cremation.
I did think of some really good ones a while ago, but I have since forgotten them, which annoys me immensely.
Good To Know That If I Ever Need Attention All I Have To Do Is Die
Cos my dad will appreciate the Hotel California-esque bit too.
Counting Crows - Colourblind
Rufus Wainwright - Hallelujah
