someone who is famous but only just, etc.
Anyone got any good stories?
I was out in Birmingham with a friend who was a massive Baggies fan. He was stupidly drunk, saw Kevin Phillips, introduced himself, and felt compelled to introduce all of us to him, despite him clearly not giving a shit. And me neither really.
He really is very, very small.
out of the film willow hehe
wasn't really that funny or a very good story.
darren campbell - Olympic runner, kinda famous really, but no one knows who he is when i talk of him.
he gave me a black man hand shake and asked me if i was sober, i lied and said 'yes of course i am!'
you win so far. although maybe if it was a less successful runner you would win more.
I'M A STUDENT!!!!!!!
...in a corridor at the BBC studios. I said to the person next to me "hey is that Alex Zane?" (this was back before Russel Brand was famous) and he looked really pissed off.
Can't blame him really. Ah well!
'hey is that one of the biggest cunts alive today?'
and it turned out to be the second biggest cunt alive
gotta love it
He is, after all, very very very hateable.
I can't blame him for being pissed off.
Tom Clarke sympathiser.
If I was Tom Clarke I'd fuckin' OD on kebabs.
Do us all a favour.
in a burger king, strangely enough. in thorpe park
maybe we're thinking on different wavelengths
At the hotel at alton towers when I was about eleven. The hotel has a swimming pool and you know when theres always a middle aged man happy to get nude in the changing rooms well Paul Ross was that man.
although my memory has thankfully blocked out the mental picture that could have potentially scarred me for life.
at the checkouts in Sainsburys, no one else recognised him or even knew who he was.
he didn't have his cock out
when he gets it out he gets mistaken for keith chegwin
he just can't win can he?
I was with friends, and we chased Jim Bowen into his hotel, with him shouting bugger off or something at us.
I also saw Bernard Manning, and said awight Bernard in a Bernard voice. He said awight son in a Bernard voice.
Zoe Ball also once bought me a pint, but I don't think she's rubbish.
i was at mc dondands and former boro player bearine slaven sat next to m a started talking to me
from eggheads.. in 1983 or whenever he won mastermind. so (slightly) famous the first time round.
Oh, and Mark Curry came to my parents house once to interview my friends dad for TV
cos I was on a ex-boro players message board the other day and Bernie Slaven was telling Robbie Mustoe how he once met Jamie Sample in McDonalds.
I've thought of a better celeb!!!
He was a news reported on the BBC, as well as being the laughing presenter of It's a knockout. When I was really little I was on Blackpool beach with my classmates building sandcastles, and he was there doing some piece about something or other.
is pretty rubbish - he was coming off the Loch Ness submarine, when I was about 14 and told me "that was wild, mayt"
A better, second hand story - my mate once met Dan Marino (remember - Ace Ventura?)... He signed his cap - took a short step back - pointed at him and winked - "stay safe, kid".
Oddly I spend about 10 mins today doing an impression of Ray Finkles mother today.
"Dan Marino should die of gohnorrea and rot in hell. Cookie?"
"Whataya know, there little footballs."
Lisa Scott-Lee of former steps and dancing on ice fame. She came into the cinema with andi peters and some other guys I didnt recognise. She was rather haggard looking. Andi Peters was pretty buff but showed signs of ageing.
OH and i was at the pub with Stuart from Big Brother the other night
He was acting all gangsta in Pacha one night
ive been drinking with him and (see above) another dude called dan ( who played wulf in robinhood pot) cos my ex used to be a bit of an actor and they've all known each other.. but dan & danny were ok.. oh and john simm, daniella denbigh ash, and some random kids tv presenter fk knows what his name was.
oh, and the two guys off hollyoaks, they own the chilled eskimo in west london... full of small time tv actors in there .. loada shiiite
I was really drunk and told him he was my favourite Newsnight Review presenter. I then asked him "how can I be as great as you?" and he said "drink less red wine." I then accused him of being sleazy for some reason I can't quite remember.
Luckily though I stumbled into him again the following day and was able to apologise. He seemed pretty cool with it. Nice guy.
The Eagle Edwards
- at the Cliffs Pavillion restaurant, Southend, circa 1984. He was on TV at the time in a kids show called 'So You Wanna be Top.' He signed a paper napkin for me.
Bizarrely, the only other time i've asked for an autograph, was at the Slough Festival 92, from the bassist in Silverfish
Had my graduation there just last year. Good times
When I was at primary school and he probably still did 'Beadle's About'.
I saw his tiny hand.
i gave him a vodka and tonic, which he held in his tiny hand. the very same night i served jim rosenthal. jimmy carr was doing stand up. this was a crap celebrity haven.
They weren't with the "...and no slacking!" man though
I can't believe I forgot this:
Isla Fisher was doing the summer season with Darren Day in Blackpool. She used to come to my local and drink (and play pool). One time we were in and a guy, Dodgy Pete went up to her and said "I stopped watching Home and Away when you left", she said "aww thats sweet", and as he turned to walk away he said "Well thats not true, I just stopped wanking over it"
I love that story.
Another summer season. The Alessi twins from Neighbours were doing some show, and my friends saw one of them sat on the next table to them, and a girl I know said "Oh, she was the pretty one, where is the one with the gammy eye?"
She was sat directly behind her.
my friends went up and started talking to him in the natural history museum in london. then he followed us around. for about half an hour, regaling us with thrilling stories about how he's terry wogan's secret nemesis, and how extensive his knowledge of buckfast is. you get the idea.
i bet that was mildly amusing
but im proud of this.
hes my cousin though so does it still count?
he tried to charge me $15 for an autographed photo.
I accidently pulled his wing off then I cried because my auntie told me we had to leave as I'd killed him :(
That sounds like a euphemism.
He asked her if she wanted to join membership scheme because he didnt know who she was and didnt realise she was only visiting. She was a bit shocked, apparently.
Again, that sounds like a euphemism.
"Why, are YOU a member?" and then made wanker signs at him whilst mouthing "MEMBER! MEMBER!"
I wish I was famous.

He was a wanker.
He's a cunt.

My lamest celebrity encounter would be Keith from the Office at Latitude this summer. Lovely.
I got him to sign my cinema ticket for 300 (after muchos cider I might add).
I'm not quite sure which part of this story I'm more embarrassed about, the actual autograph or that I went to see 300...
Watched a play I was doing in Durham Cathedral, and said he liked it even though it was rubbish. Then we all ran off and scared an old man (not George though, he got in a car).
went to see my friend Selena play the Enterprise in Camden, she was friends with <gasp> Robin the drummer from Bush who I'd met a couple of times and as crap as they are I was still a little starstruck, what made this occasion worse was he was seeing that horrid bitchy girl from the first fame academy (the one that told the indie boy not to win) and she talked at me for an hour about it while I pretended to not know a thing or scream "YOU EVIL HARPIE!"
John Thompson (from The Fast Show) on the stairs in Forbidden Planet in Dublin a few years ago.
I saw him putting his bin out once.
is great friends with my parents and they 'do lunch'
That doesn't even count really does it?
I met Philip Pullman at a BBQ. I think we conversed about sausages.
claims to have seen Dave Benson Phillips in a local chip shop.
I once met the Panic Attack team from Robot Wars but was too starstruck to say anything.
"I got sexually assaulted by a Cheeky Girl then Papped" story again?

I really, really was
thats what i meant to say.. the guy who played the kid wulf in robin hood prince of thieves.. not braveheart haha
When I was a waiter, he tipped good, then all the stories came out in the press, grim
My mum used to know her, before she got 'famous'.
On trying to relay this info Jimmy mistook her for someone else, so we had to play along while she signed autographs and got photos taken.
She had child's building blocks on the pedals of her car - seriously.
spotted at secret garden party
my mate kept shouting his name (and then we all turned round) and everntually he worked it out was us.
i said "i saw you supporting the golden virgins at nottm social a while back. got to admit i thought you were fucking awful"
he said "it's funny how things turn out innit"
not sure the GV's would agree with him.
They're both really crap and boring, but sophiacherryx did chuck a chicken across a room yesterday! Exciting stuff it was.
Howard from the Halifax adverts. He was 'appearing' at our local Halifax, we were given a leaflet and off we went and shook his hand.

dave benson-phillips of 'get your own back' fame in london zoo when i was a kid.
goes to my university and pub i work at, so i see her quite a lot.
is she as much of a tit as she seems?
it is apparent she feels the need to dress 5x more indie than everyone else wherever she is ALL THE TIME (and that's saying something at goldsmiths).
He came to my old school.

What a soul destroying existence he must have had at that time.
I've just realised I've met a sports someone or other =/. Some basketball player came to my Primary School I have a picture, but have failed to find it :(!

My friend was selling her coke so she could lose weight for a photo shoot. She bought me a red bull as this was done in a pub.
Jade Goody came to my school and waxed some sixth formers in charity week. I also saw Scooch (Eurovision air stewards) in a shopping centre about 6 years ago.

I've just realised the post is barely famous people but hey ho..
... I met someone from Hollyoaks about two years ago. I was in Preston with my friend, who spotted him and dragged me over. Still no idea who he is/was - t'was all rather embarrassing, really.

Then I turned around... and there were Hale and Pace!

hanging out together at Spud-U-Like in the Royal Victoria Place food mall in Tunbridge Wells.
A friendship made in heaven.
apparantly can't type without pressing 'post reply' halfway through. Bugger. Well anyway; i served Jessica from Liberty X and Kevin Pietersen (the cricketer) when they came into the pub i work at. See also; Craig Brown (former Scotland manager) and Charity Dingle (don't know her real name, didn't knew she was a 'celebrity' until i was told). Oh, and i met Lucy Pinder once when out in Preston. She was quite nice actually.
