and then some....
because he played spurs at the weekend. Portsmouth are awful.
feel sorry for the poor lamb haven't you.
it's not as if he's ever done anything in his life that would ever cause anyone to dislike him?
as football 'fans'.
of football fans when opposition players stroll over to take a throw-in.
and is probably the oddest most insecure footballer ever.
aside from that hes solid sol.
Seriously. It's just not true, is it? We are clearly not awful.
ever live down the ty years in my eyes.
Portsmouth were looking rocking this season. Big athletic players and doing well good in the league.
Sol Campbell gets from Spurs fans goes a bit beyond being called shit.
should've thought of that back in 2001 i think.
if any footballer deserves abuse its him
than going to the team your previous teams are massive rivals with, having lied to your club and stalled on contract talks for 6 months leaving them with nothing.
THE MAN IS A CUNT
so we didnt sell him, then he fucks off. he just fucked us over basically.
Football fans can be such tards.
our (Spurs') star player by a mile. club captain and general bedrock of the team.
this says it better than i can...
he even said something like "it's a breach of my human rights. It's as bad as racism".
his plan is definitely going to work. No spurs fan will ever abuse him again now!
the mental judas cunt
i think deadley's pretty crocked....
i hate to say it but i think so too
Micah Richards is a good comparison - if he spent 6 months saying he was committed to city, didn't want to go anywhere else, the thought hadn't crossed his mind blah blah blah, then signed for Man U (when there are 5 or 6 other top clubs willing to sign him) , I think City fans would be a little bit peeved.
Absolutely love it
for you to consider him.
Arsenal's lack of English players somehow bothers us. I'd rather be top of the league with fuck all English players than a mid-table team full of over-priced home growns
that most other fans do not believe that your lack of English players bothers your fans. Certainly no Arsenal fan I've ever spoken to has given me that impression.
I would suggest however, that many other fans find your habit of poaching promising youngsters from other top European teams, just before it becomes possible for them to charge very much money distasteful at best.
a lot of it. and he didnt go to united. after saying he loved your team and wouldnt even think about doing something like that.
he ended up doing the same to us anyway. We cancelled his contract and granted him a free transfer on the basis that he was a mentalist, and he assured Wenger he'd go abroad
So either he's a liar, or Fratton Park was the most glamorous offer he got
but yes he is lying scum
although you'd get the 15+ million to chew over as compensation...
we got nothing
yeah, it'd be just the same as the campbell affair.
cry me a fucking river. all he is a pampered, spoiled, 40,000 pound-a-week earning pussy.
every time there was a London derby coming up, almost without fail there was a big tabloid 'kiss and tell' from some leggy tart saying what an amazing lover Campbell was
"I'm not gay! Honest!"
hes not saying about racist abuse, just spurs fans pointing out what a wanker he is.
but generally we arent known for racism
i really dont see how people still think its ok to do it.
but some of their fans are fuckwitted fuckiwits who fuck me off more than anyone else on the planet.
Here are some facts:
When you had Sol Campbell you were pretty fucking shite. Despite clearly being at least seven times better than anyone else in your team the guy stuck with you for several years in the hope you'd show some signs of life and desire to win stuff. When this clearly wasn't gonna happen he finally left. And yes, he enjoyed Arsenal.
And I agree that looked bad but assuming he didn't really want to move abroad or to a new city, where else was he gonna go? Chelsea weren't the force they are now and neither was any other team. And, although you might have called them as such, Arsenal weren't really you're rivals back in 2001. Back then they were so much better than you that your rivalry was akin to that guy from Nick Cusack's character's school in Grosse Point Blank. Arsenal didn't give a flying fuck about you 'cos they were so clearly better and any attempt to pretend otherwise just looks pathetic.
Ultimately Campbell leaving was due to your board appointing shit managers and having a complete absence of ambition.
Campbell stayed far longer than was good to him and this was probably to the detrimental of his overall career. So any fans who criticise is lack of loyalty are literally complete and utter fucking morons whose knowledge of football is so non-existent they pick an opinion at random from their local supporter club or newspaper and act as though the facts have fucked off to the pub for a couple of hours and illogical bullshit has agreed to cover their absence.
Going back to Campbell's point there is a distinction between
a) people who criticise people for footballing reasons and
b) the fuckwitted morons who believe that paying 40-odd quid to watch a game of football buys the the right to say what they like about players. NEWSFLASH: It doesn't. If you want to call a player shit that's fine. If you want to get more personal you're a cunt;.
apart from point b).
As has been pointed out many times already in this thread, it's not the lack of loyalty we dislike, so much as the downright lies.
He could've left at any time in the 2 or 3 years before he did, for a large fee, and even had he gone to Arsenal he would still have been admired by the spurs fans.
what I guess ti comes down to is whether or not you believe he was lying.
My own belief is that he was extremely indecisive and didn't really know what he wanted to do - toyed with going to Europe but didn't want to leave London, toyed with signing a new contact but felt there was a lack of ambition - and in the end joined Arsenal because he didn't want to leave London.
But, although I think the indecisiveness was unhelpful to Spurs and denied them the transfer fee he should have got, I honestly believe it was more the action of someone who didn;t know what to do (and maybe made a bad decision) than the actions of a guy wo intentionally lied outright.
you don't say the sort of stuff he did and then join arsenal if you're not a liar. (i.e. "I will never join Arsenal")
"Despite clearly being at least seven times better than anyone else in your team"
he wasn't. In his last season with us Ginola won Player of the year. Klinsmann won it a few years earlier. We also had Sheringham.
"Arsenal weren't really you're rivals back in 2001.....Arsenal didn't give a flying fuck about you"
ummmm.....they really did.
I exaggerated somewhat but I guess my key argument, which I stick by, was that it was entirely in Sol Campbell's interests to leave Spurs way before he did and, given that I honesty think that he'd have achieved far more in his career if he'd gone when (in footballing teams, he 'should' have done so if he cared that much about his career.
The "I will never join Arsenal' quote was not something I'm aware of and, within that context, I can see why Spurs fans are pissed off, although I maintain far worse happens on football fields...
unless you think arsenal would have won the champions league had he been there earlier. they wouldnt have.
of course worse things do happen, but they are dealt with too.
i cried when teddy sheringham left but i didnt hate him. his way of furthering his career was the right way to do it, campbells was the wrong way.
we can just put this behind us. i wont judge you on this sorry episode.
all in all, I think he's done ok. He got innumerable pounds in the bank, a nice trophy cabinet, a new set of adoring (arsenal) fans who loved him just as much for joining them as we hated him for leaving and a standard of living better than 99.99999% of people in the world. I think 2 weekends a year when he has to put up with people shouting Judas and Gay at him is a fair price to pay. They're hardly even bad insults anyway. 'Oh no he's called me a gay!' That is the worst thing ever!
and this is why i dislike him so much. He said that joining arsenal never crossed his mind etc. etc. and that he loved spurs. then how comes he suddenly became more decisive when his contract ran out?
He knew the repercussions of his actions and he took them anyway.
Overall he lied and went to arsenal. Thats unforgiveable in terms of spurs fans.
especially if he had lied and fucked arsenal over.
dont even try and say they wouldnt.
the fact that we didnt win anything makes the whole situation worse, it doesnt excuse Cammpbell
I'd probably dispute that
I think a genuine two-way rivalry can only occur when the two teams are in direct competition. Now, people can now shout me down and bring up Burnley/Blackburn, and (at times) Newcastle/Sunderland
But as an Arsenal fan I care way, way more about us getting one over on Chelsea or Man Utd than I do Spurs. Obviously, I'm no fan of theirs and would always prefer they lose. But I think in the last 10-15 years or so the North London rivalry has kinda been one-way
and i agree that beating man u and chelsea is probably more important, given that its more important to your hopes of winning the league etc.
but if you take away context of what the win means, would you really say you would rather beat man u than us?
than us? this makes me mega :(
With Man Utd I have all this built up hatred that's developed over about 15 years. Even the sight of Ferguson's alcohol-ridden red face makes me angry, let alone that pathetic little run out of the dugout and the flimsy air punch he does whenever they score
As it stands, the only thing that I really 'hate' about Spurs is Robbie Keane. And your fan base as a whole. There's the odd one I don't mind, of course
who has ever watched football.
Why would you hate Robbie Keane?!? i dont see that, several other players if they wernt ours i would hate, but not keane.
I just hate arsenal in general. Although you seem ok despite your support of them :P
Always whining. He's like an Irish Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. And the way he plays reminds me of the kids at school on the playground who weren't quite as skilful as they thought, but would never pass the ball
Did you go Fitzwimarc too?
i actually did
for example, throwing flares at an opposing player, throwing objects (a coin perhaps) at the refreess (sp?), and managing to chuck a fucking lawn mower onto opposing fans.
was at the old arms park in about 1993. A firework/flare was fired by the romanian fans and landed near an old guy sitting about 15-20 rows behind me, who had a heart attack and died :(
Sol was only released to go to Pompey because he indicated he was going to go play in Turkey, and Wenger wasn't best pleased at his u-turn.
also, i can't say i hate Rohan Ricketts.
glad to see you noticed!
but yeah bless his little heart. he did score against you though didnt he?
don't really care
if anyone signs for spurs i just laugh at how silly they were and then enjoy their subsequent failure.
Showed early promise but couldn't break into the first team so left us for Spurs, made a handful of appearances and ended up at Wolves
Not sure where he is now, despite the fact I've seen him play at Layer Road this season
Sol was not an insignificant player. Of course that makes a difference. Players who were not established in the reserves let alone first team, then eventually move to a rival club where they again fail to become established, are unlikely to attract too much bile.
And they're extremely unlikely to have ever even had the chance to say "I'll never move to our rivals" in the national press over and over again.
and it'd obviously piss off any set of fans if something similar happened again
but i think spurs fans need to realise that their continued high profile hatred of Sol is yet another reason why people laugh at them.
it isn't just gooners that find all the "top 4 this year!!!!" overambition hilarious.
of course, it is mostly gooners that do. along with the general mess you've been in since the early 90s, the fact you've never won the league on colour TV and the fact that your most successful manager since Venables is Georgie Graham. :)
let us sneak a result on saturday.
i cant really think of a comeback to that. fucking arsenal wankers
TAKE THAT! YOU'RE GAY!
is a Judas bastard.
