what are they like? apparently Sheffield is getting one. (the Roxy :D )
How excited should I be on a scale of 1 to 16?
which is great.
Judging by my experience of the Birmingham Academy, the drinks are astoundingly expensive and the security are bastards.
It is great to have one though! Leeds is getting one too.
of evil security men.
with shit beer, but always good soundsystems, clean and a great route to the bigger touring bands.
is the leeds one gonna be?
i was thinking what used to be stanley knife and charver central, majestyk, as it's been stood empty for a while and is in the city centre.
my sister told me. I think she said Creation? Some horrible mainstream club that she didn't like, anyway.
Although there is this huge metal barrier between the bar and the floor in Bristol, so it can be quite difficult to get anywhere€
and sometimes (I'm talking about bristol here), they have excellent acoustics, and a great soundman who always gets it right.
But they are prohibitively expensive, and have little atmosphere. You also get a lot of 30 year old lager boys there checking out the next big thing cause it's carling endorsed.
The bar academies, which most of them ahve are better. better 'alternative acts', smaller, intimate venues.
Security are cocks. Don't whatever you do, crowdsurf or try and take anything remotely prohibitable in. They took my phone off me cause it had a camera once.
I'd have had you earmarked as a dangerous subversive element on the basis of that or at the very least a serious maverick!
it was my lunch for the next day!
expensive bars with terrible beer (£3.10 a pint for shitting carling)
twattish hardcase security
really sticky floor upstairs and really slippery floor in the smaller bit.
I'm sure they are all like this w/out exception
if you want to go out for a tab at a gig then you have to buy another ticket if you want to come back in afterwards.
it's different for clubs but still, bloody hell.
It's the embodiment of the devil and will be duly confiscated.
little atmosphere thing coming from? I think the atmosphere in Bristol Academy is superb. I like the fact its wide and shallow, and all he different levels. Way better than a load of similar sized venues I could think of.
is a big open place with a very high ceiling for the size of the place and the way the bars are laid out raised at the back means that a lot of people stick crammed up there.
still it's a little better than the weird school sports hall vibe of northumbria universitys biggest room.
the better of the chain venues, but that's not saying much.
they're ok, and certainly no worse than a lot of independent venues. but i really dislike the way they're proliferating across the country like they are.
are the only of the chain venues?
which generally suck more.
AKA Fibbers is GOD!
I like Barfly.
whats your beef with barfly?
