cheap and tacky, e-seasonal greeting, innit:
graphic designers, what do y'all think of this?
we're waiting till january when we're gonna financially rape your overspending idiot arses!
but i know what i dont like...and this isnt it
you like it?
it's got gaping flaws. notice the big, discoloured boxes around the text?
& yeah, it's utterly depressing.
mostly because i know someone probably got paid something ridiculous like over £500 to make that. that thought makes me do a little vom in my mouth.
'just wanted to share some really bad creative'.
'Oh My God, that's hideous... so badly produced... that's awful...'
'that's not even on brand' (comment from an ex barcap marketing manager!)
Also slightly miffing are the amount of designers who create solutions that look good but are poorly thought out and are at the expense of practicality.
why's it bad?
why's it good?
I'm not a 'creative' either, for what it's worth. I just work with them.
but still, why's it so bad? It's just a bland corporate e-card, and to me looks the same as all bland corporate e-cards.
and so on, and while I can't necessarily 'create' it myself, think I have a good eye and appreciation for it, so umm... yeah.
But exactly what you said: it's boring, it's bland, and in many ways patronising. it's terrible because with a company that probably generates so much in terms of profits, its very ill considered and thoughtless... the whole 'you've earned it', while probably trying to link into their strapline of 'earn success' or whatever bollocks it was, is just patronising to it's employees...
It's badly executed at a technical level.. our tech guys here were appalled by it.. the layout.. the colours... the font is off brand... argh...
rather than send out a stupid eCard.
And there are good examples of eCards produced... I'll try and find one and send it to you.
calm down lady!
It's okay - we were all looking at this really badly executed Godiva ad at the same time... it's what we do... look at shit work so we can all comment and learn from it. Ha.
is it meant to be anymore than this?
to see if he can find out if any money, time, thought or effort went into this.
i'm presuming its as much of a joke there as it is here.
I don't have anything to do with anyone in design.
If I did, heads would be a rollin' - there's no way I'd be sending that out to clients.
but maybe that's a good thing.
must've took up to a whole 5 minutes on Flash!
THE SNOWFLAKES GET QUICKER.
COME QUICK AND LOOK IT'S AMAZING.
i discovered you can kind of drag the direction of them around too!
bloody genius it is.
I'm not seeing the problem. This is exactly the kind of rigidly functional corporate greeting I would expect from a bank.
What would have made it genius is requiring viewers to fill out a form to accept the greeting.
"Are you filled with cheer? Yes/No"
cheer is not a corporate requirement though Stealthy.
"Barclays Capital regrets we are unable to furnish you with adequate spirit this holiday season. We are therefore pleased to be offering you Good Tidings for the next financial year at a very attractive 5.6%APR..."
and a free mince pie with every grande or mega-stupid grande latte, cappuccino or coffee, purchased at our in-house starfucks consession.
consists of a webcam hooked up to a gerbil cage. The cage has a wheel which when spun by the gerbil powers a light saying 'merry christmas'.
I cant decide if it's utter tripe or complete genius.
