Ive been appointed the duty of buying the cheese for Christmas. Which ones should i get?
is always very Christmassy :)
The little sausage shaped ones
on the plus side it's apparently Lucia's name day in slovakia, so we have banana cake, which it is buff it is!
good quality ripe brie
wensleydale with cranberries
doux de montagne
a nice chevre for diversity
and smoked cheddar
I guess if you went to a fancy cheese shop, or something, it would be worth it.
then im not stuck with ones i dont want. Money is no option when it comes to cheese
no option? you make the cheese yourself?
And you get a tasty 12.5% discount.
tastes the best and looks like cartoon cheese
lovely cheese, almost guaranteed to please everyone.
It sorts the men from the boys
Go to Neals Yard or go online and do it.
Place this Christmas cheese order (ignore everyone else here and order the following).
Colston Bassett Stilton
Their own Brie De Meaux
get maybe 400-500g of each - will cost about £30 but it'll be worth it. There is no better Stilton than Colston B and the Lancashire from Kirkhams is incredible. This lot will see you through Xmas and will blow your mind.
Don't mess about with any stupid stilton with cranberries or brie with ginger bits - that stuff sucks. Cheesestrings? F*** off! If you want to go European - yeah Manchego is cool - but make sure you get some quince paste to go with it. A really sloppy gorgonzola is always cool. Go to Borough Market for that. Go to Borough Market if you're in London basically for cheese! If you ARE in London worth also going to Paxton & Whitfield the specialist cheese folks which is located behind Fortnam and Mason - they're great and are doing Alex James' new range of cheeses. Don't bother with Fortnam and Mason though - or John Lewis's new food hall.. Selfridges is ok.. You could try La Fromagerie up in Marylebone and Highbury (but I find them a bit pricey and snooty...). If you're outside of London avoid supermarkets and head to a deli:) Happy cheese hunting!
purchased from the cheese man in Darlo.
It's exquisite stuff!
smoked bavarian IS the christmas cheese.
the bastard metal twisty things on the end make the treat so much sweeter.
I ate 100g of this yesterday.
Snowdonia Little Black Bomber extra extra mature chedder IS the best cheese in the world.
It was bizarre, it tasted like someone has mashed up a flake and dropped it in dairylea.
has just come into season. get it while it's hot*
Colston Bassett Stilton
I'd also phone the Cheese Man in Darlington for other suggestions.
Whatever you do, don't buy rubber door wedges from the supermarket.
