Eheu! Oimoi talaina! etc.
In other words, FUCKENELL
looked at the scorecard once this morning and want nothing more to do with it.
I'm going househunting and then I'm going to find all my remaining cricket gear and eat it.
I would say he was the best left-hander in the world currently, but then there's Michael Hussey, and you can't argue with an average that's above 86 after quite a while in the game.
and biffs unbeaten centuries against knackered attacks.
I much prefer Sangakkara to Hussey anyway. His cover-drives are actual sex.
Have you read his autobiography - 'Wasted: the unbelieveable story of cricket's first rock'n'roll star?'
Note how Bell and Prior are really good at this point too and useless at 50-3?
Don't even start me on Shah's omission from this test...
Oh, I like Sanga too.
He was a rock in England's first innings after coming in at 0-1.
But Prior - I'll agree with you there. Almost guaranteed a duck if there's any stakes in it, from his current stats.
I'm a huge advocate of Bell's. I think he has the makings of an excellent test 3, I just think he needs a bit more time and to learn to not throw his wicket away between 60 and 90. And to bat on his own, like he used to with the tail. He seems to get out so quickly after the split of a partnership often nowadays.
I much prefer watching him to Pietersen too. And I'll be damned if he shouldn't stay under that lid for the whole game.
I don't get this 'Colly is unavowedly better than the whole world at fielding' rubbish. Bell is just as good. When I look and see the world's best cover point (Colly), the world's best close fielder/second best gully (Bell) and Glass Hands Cook next to the Builder's Apprentice behind the stumps it makes me wince.
Bell genuinely could be as good as Punter and much better than Pietersen. He just needs a bit more mettle and get go.
when he plays just as a batsman. He's up there with Bradman, sort of.
but looking at it in that light, you have a point...
but at least they have nicknames.
Imagine if we followed their lead on the nicknamed Twenty20 shirts:
What a bunch of boring gits.
