or has anyone done/ is doing a PDGE?

i'm considering applying to do a PGDE (secondary)after i finish my english degree next year but i'm put off by my lack of confidence in public speaking (i'm basically basing this on uni tutorials).

would it be a horrendous for a fairly shy person to go into teaching?

i've also been told there is an obscene amount of paperwork involved...

i'd be interested to know your thoughts/experiences.
