she should stop whingeing
Well, in the newer episodes at least, where apparently she's never wrong about anything, its the world that always is. Despite being 8.
that this seems to be the general view amongst Simpsons fans.
Personally I don't think you can understand The Simpsons without taking her into account. Her relationship with Homer is probably the most interesting one on the whole show.
the only time I've ever genuinely been heartwarmed by anything on a comedy program is the bit in the Apu illegal immigration episode where Homer starts a speech by saying "Well if I could just say a few words... then I'd be a better public speaker!" and then no one laughs but Bart who just laughs really really hard. And that was the one time that I think a father-son relationship on TV has been portrayed has being anything like me and my dad's.
is actually less interesting, because they understand each other all the time, even in high anger situations.
Homer and Lisa's relationship is constantly strained by the fact that they can't properly communicate with each other, and kind of realise they never will be able to. Actually, nearly all my favourite Simpsons episodes revolve around them in some way.
sick on the Homer-Lisa relationship because its so relentlessly 'emotional', which I personally think lowers the tone of the show. One thing I don't think was ever properly explored also is at the end of the Lisa/Mr Burns recycling episode when Lisa turned down all that money, how Homer could ever possibly have forgiven her. But still.
The Homer-Maggie relationship is also quite interesting, because of how Homer often has trouble remembering she exists.
relationship on the father and son thing, i forgot the episode, but it has wind beneath my wings on it. Its totally sad, but still good.
that is also an episode I can cite as to why their relationship is more interesting than Homer and Lisa's.
If not because of anything else, then just for the Richard Burton impression thing Homer does and the Bart saying he was faking having fun on the swing joke.
is the glue that holds Springfield together. Without her, that town would have gone the way of the dinosaurs a long time ago. Just from a writing standpoint, she has to be right because everyone else is so wrong.
one with the comet.
