The one on the front page now is stunning.
and I should've known better.
thats a band name right there.
I'd never noticed this before, but my brother pointed it out the other day when we were talking about photography in newspapers.
They must have some of the most skilled experts in their team to get some of those shots. That one there is amazing.
Broadsheet photography always usually has loads of connotations, whereas local newspaper and tabloids are just horrible point-and-snap shots.
it is absolutely stunning.
and yeah, tabloids are horrible, but then again if you think of the target audience of tabloids (white van workers) then you can't really imagine them understanding photography really. as long as someone's got their tits out they're happy.
where ever the story is in the world, they'll have a killer shot to go with it. Without fail. I especially like their sports photos as they always seem to pick the one that makes the subject look the ugliest.
Just pay local freelancers for the majority of their shots.
they always pick the best.
it's the consistency that I admire.
The centre spread (steady) they usually have is amazing. I kept the one they had of Trafalgar Square and its surrounding streets.
they do always seem to have amazing photos.
I think it's a bit corny, but I do like a lot of the photography they use.
What I like is the fact the sligshot is such a biblical icon in an extreamly religiously charged conflict...and because he's in sillouhette(sp?) the photo is timeless.
With the mist, the pylons, the silhouette -- it's sort of beautiful but dishonest.
because that's exactly why I like it.
I always check the middle spread even if I don't get a chance to read it properly. My favourites are the one of the French riots a couple of years ago, one of a market in Africa that captured it perfectly and one of the Millenium bridge that made all of London look miniature, as it was quite cleverly done (not just from a long way off).
first the independent, and now the guardian. some of it is simply gorgeous.
same here, the independent quickly lost me due to its preachiness.
is guaranteed... thank God for the Reuters trust.
The World Press Photo winner's gallery. Some stunning and striking stuff in there.
