What I sometimes like to think about is...
imagine The Earth if it was turned inside-out. Now don't worry about the crust and the magma and all the actual sciency bits...it just consists of the surface (with watery sea and countries
So we still live in England and there's some sort of sky above us (not sure how), however in the very very far distance you'd be able to make out the opposite side of the in-turned Earth sphere, you'd probably see Japan, well you'd just be able to make out the lighs of Tokyo.
Buildings and trees would of course obscure our immediate vision so most of Mainland Europe would be out of sight bu miles and miles in the clear distance you'd probably be able to make out The Ukraine just above the tree line before the massive giant landmass of Asia takes up most of the sky that way.
The sky would be starry..somehow. You'd have much smaller stars that would live in the bit in the middle. They would provide a bit of starlight
