This is a thread about sewing, and customising clothes. It may not be very manly.
Ok, now that's out of the way.
I have a military-style coat, that I adore. Unfortunately, it's about eight years old and, frankly, has seen better days. But I adore it, so I'd like to try and get it in some sort of full working order again.
Problems:
it's missing at least three buttons from the front.
the two main pockets are attached to the inside of the jacket by a small strap of...something...and a button each. these buttons are missing and the straps are buggered.
there is a massive hole in each of the aforementioned pockets.
there is fraying EVERYWHERE on the sleeves and the fronty bit.
it's a horrendous colour from a lot of rain attacks and washing. it needs some form of dyeing, if possible. the coat is dark blue/grey.
Are these fixable things? Does anyone know how to do all or some of these things? Is there some sort of 'shop' that can help me? Will it work out cheaper than shelling out for another coat? Can the fraying bits be fixed, and maybe, like, sewn over or something, with another piece of thread, or something?
I will pay someone to do this if they can. Ladies: help me!
