To help you make your decision, here are all the gigs in Birmingham and environs for the next week:
glasgows much more rocking
except for manchester
you guys win a prize.
am I thinking about this too much?
They'd just be lots of scruffy people stood in a big field
that's probably true.
or, y'know...Glasgow because it would be the most like Edinburgh.
Edinburgh is too cold.
it gets too hot for me in the summer so there! it's not always cold...
it gives the city a rustic look.
it's...ok it is hilly but I like that, better than having everything all flat and on one level. I love going down the bridges and looking down and seeing there's a street 20 foot below crossing under where I'm walking.
and ok, we had a bad summer this year in the sense that there wasn't one, it was rain all the time but that is global warmings fault, not edinburgh's! it was really hot last year.
Edinburgh's warmer than London at the moment...And also ace
Edinburgh is ace.
I've also been there on numerous oscasions and can confirm that it is very cold.
Aberdeen. No hesitation.
and women..........aren't there.
If that's true, it lends an ugly dimension to the time two of my friends disappeared for an hour to get blowjobs down at the dockside for the princely sum of five pounds...
another bullet succesfully dodged.
Because the day before I was in Dundee, so now I've idealised it.
WIth exception of one mention, none of you have chosen real cities, like Bimringham, Newcastle, Liverpool, Glasgow, Manchester
You've all gone for poncey pretty little places!
isn't actually that hardcore at all....
St Paul isn't a GOOD area.
But Knowle West/Southmead and Easton are worse.
I hate Easton.
it wouldn't be fucking awful Birmingham!
Women still out number men there, don't they?
have either been shot dead or incarcerated.
Birmingham, or Leeds...
Norwich is great!
Or Cambridge. I prefer Cambridge, but both are lovely.
purely for the arts centre and baguette express. <3
theres really good shops and stuff, and a few decent clubs, and its pretty friendly in general
especially down st benedicts street. soundclash being pretty much the only independent record shop in east anglia. Please tell me you've been to baguette express? Officially the best place to eat in the world.
where is it?
Yeah its a really cool shop, and they always have Vice in there, the oxfam near there do some really cool secondhand records too.
next to the market. They do baguettes with hot meat cut off the bone there and then. And they do some good veggie ones too. Lovely doesn't even begin to describe it.
Soundclash have a dubstep section. And last time I went in they were selling Sunn O)))'s 'Black One' on vinyl. How can you lose?!
Is it expensive?
Yeah its such a good shop i think, i usually spend about a tenner in there on 7" singles when i go in.
considering you get a large baguette and decent meat in it. Much better than subway or shit like that.
so i expect good things sir.
If you took the advice here you might as well go to Tunbridge Wells
if that disappeared then probably glasgow, or aberdeen.
is clearly the best choice
I've never heard of these places.
If london disappeared, I would stand on Preston railway station fending off stray hipster twats.
Brighton & Hove
Right now I'm considering Brighton though.
I miss Scotland a lot and want to return one day. I'd contemplate moving there now if all my friends didn't live in London.
Left London nearly 6 years ago and don't miss it one liddle bit. Except maybe for the amount of music venues. Certainly not the violence, dirt, fumes, litter, vandalism etc.
is everyone saying edinburgh.
GLASGOW IS TOTALLY BETTER.
it has gigs EVERY NIGHT, and everything. and it has the barras market, and the subway. all edinburgh has is some american tourists and a large rock.
having said that, i might go to uni in either next yearr..
but i'll forgive you this time.
i wouldn't bother, i'd just go and live in st ives.
er, the one in cornwall, not cambridgeshire.
The rest of the country are a bunch of cunts.
Scotland or England?
i'd rather have someone take a shit on my face than live in staines.
I'd go and live in Staines for sure.
it's good for lots of things. i hear.
so says the Arcade Fire.
although Brighton's a possible too. I like Bristol but grew up there and would like I was going backwards if I moved back.
Thinking about it I've actually never been to Birmingham (I've been through Spaghetti Junction loads of times and been to the NEC but don't think I've ever been to Birmingham itself).
I used to live in Manchester and it was great, so i say there..
I fear that my native Hampshire had een cruelly disenfranchised from the dream city contest!
Maybe is Basingstoke gained city status, yeah, that would swing it.
3. Stoke (I know, I know, there's just something about the area I really like).
