Specsavers' Machinations
Last Saturday I bought my glasses from Specsavers, taking advantage of the 2 for 1 as ever.
When it came to the lenses the guy said I could have thin and light on both and only pay for it on the first pair. I did query this as it had never happened before and I saw him thinking it through a bit later when he wrote it on the paper but that was it. I assumed he was either in a position to offer it gratis or there was an offer on.
When I collected them this evening the guy was faffing a lot (not the same guy) and eventually he came back to me and we had a conversation along these lines:
Him: "Unfortunately my colleague actually undercharged you. You see it's another £60 to have thin and light in both glasses..."
Me: "So you're going to take these [indicating the second pair] and put the normal lenses in?"
Him: "Don't you want thin and light in both pairs?"
Me: "Not if it's going to cost me £60."
Him: "Okay, I'll just give these to you at no extra charge then..."
I'm trying to work out whether the guy who sold them to me was banking on me being the sort who'd just pay the extra when finally handed them or was just a fool. Ho well. BARGAIN! Except all told it already cost me £226 so not that bargainatious.
