really. really. lame.
REALLY. REALLY LAME.
does anyone know how to give votes minus threads? it's really important.
seriously guys, does anyone know how to give posts minus votes? it's really important.
It's a tricky one.
do you think anyone will actually click 'report this' and send an email, and actually give a shit or mean it?
you cared enough to post this thread AND reply to your own post outlining how you're not sure anybody will care.
that are worth answering.
large mug of hot chocolate.
but I bet there'll be loads of "joke" reporting.

I was thinking about reporting sean's post, just for the LOLs, but was too scared.
and it brought up an email from my outlook express.
the email came from my work address
same fail message as Klaire
Now I've just noticed...
this makes perfect sense?!
if someone feels unjustly put upon, or there is something really horrific going on that an admin type misses then it makes sense there is an easy way to report it!!
and if it goes to some email address, it won't go to an admin will it. so... what's the point? what if something 'mean' happens at night? it's pointless.
if people think something is wrong they can just pm someone. it's be easier just to have a 'report inapppropriate content' bit in the PM section.
it's not a magic email address. i'd imagine that it is checked by an admin.
if you're seriously miffed about this then.. that's really sad.
i just think it's a bit pointless. and people will either ignore it, and so it's... pointless, or will abuse it and make useless work for someone who has to trawl through emails for serious reports.
as admin aren't superhuman and on the ball all the time. so it's particularly useful if something happens at night when someone isn't necessarily around. it's not advertising an immediate dealing with the situation, it's setting the standard that there is a legitimate procedure to report something you find on the boards that will be dealt with at some point.
also, I've been here a fair while and only have a vague idea of who the admin are, imagine if it's someone completely new, unless I/them go in and check every username to see who is Amin it's easier and more obvious to just click on the 'report this' button. which would go to an e-mail address. which I would imagine would get checked at regular intervals.
get dealt with anyway.
and, as far as i can see, it's not really anonymous. unless on their end they've got some blocker doo-dad.
my point was there is now an obvious and *standard procedure* in place to deal with any abuse.... a way for those that don't know who the admin are to report a problem.
but I'm just repeating myself now.
They're listed in the 'staff' section at the bottom of the page.
That's odd. I was fairly sure everyone got listed. Ah well...
Needs to be here, by law.
With developments in the legal framework governing free-to-post website content, like these boards, ongoing, we have to ensure that readers/administrators can be made aware of potentially libellous comments. If we are not, we leave ourselves open to legal action should a user write something seriously inflammatory.
So: that’s your official explanation, right there.
Right now, if you don't have an email account to hand you can't report the thread. And on top of that as we've just seen above, if there's an issue with the account you're screwed.
Shouldn't it open a box like 'post reply' that then sends them to a central point where they can be actioned by whoever is around? Presumably a separate staff forum would be ideal?
REPORT THIS underneath naughty posts?
"^^ BAN REQUEST"
We'll see how the system works for the time being.
and then click on 'community' you can make the center column go green.
that is all.
it's called "ACTUALLY DOING WORK".
but it explains why I have a mere 6800 posts to your - Holy shit?! - 24, 000?!
you're still always be a n00b to me ;p
i'm not proud :(
