Maybe I'm inadvertedly being something of a class warrior here, but since uni term started again I've been getting increasingly pissed off with the MA system.
Would it be unfair of me to say it is concrete evidence of a class divide in higher education? The only people I know to have gone on to them are supported completely by their parents. I supported myself entirely throughout my BA and was told by various banks that I wouldn't get a Career Development loan as I was too heavily into my overdraft as it was.
I worked damn hard and got a 2.1 in History at a very well respected uni, but know plenty of people who got 3rds in less well respected degrees at less reputable institutions, and it annoys me that they'll be higher up the qualification ladder than me.
