can anyone tell me how far is the Airport from the city?
Also, where would I find a decent bar in the city?
but did you know that Glasgow Prestwick Airport is more likely to have clear skies than any other airport in the UK? Thus, you are less likely to experience delays.
See things CAN be learnted from tv.
I hope it's not because there's a crazy guy with a shotgun who fires wildly into the sky
I went there once when I went to Parkhead. Took forever, even in a cab.
if the M77's clear. Which it probably won't be.
Decent bars aplenty in the city centre... what kind of thing were you looking for?
but not a sweatbox, somewhere I can have a conversation and preferably near my hotel (Gordon Street/Central Station)
and Ayr's a shithole. Sorry.
there's a bar/restaurant called caprice which does 2 for 1 pasta/pizzas between 5 and 7 on weekdays, i think. Not half bad niver.
Its soooo funny getting a plane there from somewhere in Europe, as you land you get all these foreign tourists looking out the window at the sea, and getting really confused, and asking where the hell Glasgow is.
Proper answer, there's a train station at the airport that will take you into the city centre in about 30 minutes (completely rough guess).
Does the train go to central station cause my hotel is beside there
but if not it will go to Queen Street, which is 5 minutes walk at the most.
it goes to Central
thats what I wanted to hear.
Can you recommend a decent bar?
i haven't lived there for over 5 years, so I'm a bit out of touch.
needless to say though, there are a LOT of pubs in the surrounding area so you won't struggle to find one.
the west end had some nice places, and isn't that far away.
if not it shouldn't be a problem. The city is quite easy to navigate imho.
I believe they were big on the hit parade in the mid 90's.
And with a bit of luck I'll meet some new people and have a bit of fun.....
whats it to ya?
It's actually much easier to get to Glasgow by public transport from Prestwick Airport than from Glasgow Airport. The station is virtually in the airport and train takes you straight to Central Station.
Bars - I'd recommend
Nice 'N' Sleazy
From memory.. Glasgow's only half an hour-ish away from the city centre on the bus. Prestwick is further away, so will take longer, but there is a train station at the airport I think, so will take you right to Glasgow.
They are everywhere, you won't struggle to find a decent one.
