every ACTUALLY worked?
in the sense that she decided she loved you etc.
DiS, share your vast experience....
But playing Gomez to a girl in my bedroom at Uni did get me a feel of her boobs.
I'm counting that as success.
less salubrious music venues the other day and one of the posters outside described one of the bands playing as "chili peppers / gomez / radiohead".
doesn't that sound like the worst thing ever?
the three of them couldn't be more different bands.
i dont think a mixtape would ever be a deciding factor...
its never gone badly for me. depends when you give it them i guess.
The chances of her lying about it were quite high though.
I don't have a tape player anymore, but, providing it included some good songs, I'd fall in love with someone who mae me a mixCD.
it didn't make me fall in love as I didn't like many of the songs, oh well.
then blew it before she listened to it. It was FULL of hidden meanings, that I'd be embarrassed for her to listen to now :(
mixtape, spelling out via the medium of song the path of your relationship.
Starting with the chase, then the first kiss, the first fumbling sexual manouevres, then the drunken jealousy about the big bloke who kept looking at you, then the daytrip to the Sea Life centre, then the pregnancy scare, then the beer-fuelled argument that spelled the beginning of the end, then sleeping with your best mate, then the finale, in which the mixtape maker writes his own song entitled 'Seriously, Give Me Back My Favourite Socks You Utter, Utter Twatfarm'.
Now there's an idea..
if not year
for a girl i fancied
and later on the girl was in love with me.
pretty much a success
but it really was the single most incredible piece of mixtape packaging in history
If it doesn't work, it's obviously not very good or you're not compatible. harsh but fair.
Promising mix-tapes and then never making them is a very bad thing though, repercussions are likely to occur.
although one friend once received a mix-tape from a guy on which every song was about sex and how they wanted to sex things with her. needless to say, it didn't work
i'll report back...
but if you're a complete cunt it's not going to make any difference.
I think it's a nice gesture though.
i whip one up for you.
no prick treasing this time please
And I still love him to this day!
It was very sweet. He chose the songs tht reminded him of our relatioship from the first day. Kind of told a story. A guy also recorded himself with a dodgy camera telling me how much he loved me. That was slightly more cringeworthy as I didn't feel the same...
My thing worked.
But....for how long?
I'll just show you the tracklisting
but my wife asked me to put 60mb of music on her phone, it was arm chewingly difficult especially as she has no taste worth noting and I had twelve songs to try and educate her into liking something that wasn't timberlake. she hasn't threatened divorce yet, well not for that, so i say success...
should I know.
If you're desperate enough to hope that a mixtape can work to get a girl, you obviously don't have a chance...
...a CD just seems like they haven't made the effort.
it was a great cd. and the packaging was a work of 3D art with moving parts. it was excellent and it was appreciated. and by god there was effort involved. yeah.
I'm about to make one for a girl that I'm interested in so I'll report back with full details of the glorious failure that will inevitably unfold.
'Slip It In' - Black Flag? Good opening track?
Obviously, I'll close with 'Your Face Is a Rape Scene' - pg.99
Now I make them only if I'm getting one in return.
i usually rely on my charm instead.
And I ain't gettin' no laydeez.
i think it's faulty :(
I once gave a girl a whole fucking CD WALLET of burnt CDs. What happened? She just essentially stole the wallet, never commented on the music. I loved that wallet. And I loved her. I wrote a song about it. It was very painful. But misguided, naturally. Cool organ riff in it though.
but ultimately it comes across as childish. (Unless you've already established an "indie-bond", eh.)
unless you already, or truly expect to, share great epiphanies over music. and this is something one must be honest with oneself about.
In my head i give a mixtape to a girl and she's impressed by the sequencing of the various tom waits tracks, with special emphasis on the slushy romantic ones. Then I make her a john frusciante one and she thinks that its cool that i revel in heroin addiction.
some bad sandwhich?
and I can't see what else she's attracted to, so it must've been that.
I'm pretty sure if I got made one I'd fall in love with whoever made it there and then though. As soon as I find a girl that thinks the same I'm going to mixtape her senseless.
Her BF found it and went SIK apparently.
But I don't want her legs around my face or anything. I just wanted her to realise Ryan Adams wasn't just New York New York.
with a poster saying
on their wall.
i now see what they were trying to tell me.
I've never been won over by a mixtape and none of my own have led to any tales of great love. I'm not giving up on tapes yet though...
I'll have you know. hmm i forgot that was still my profile picture...
I thought you were a chef at Hogwarts or something!
about three for my girlfriend over the past year, in the hope that she might stop listening to the Foo Fighters and Nickleback and the like and maybe listen to something else.
Recently, it's started to work (Y)
