it didn't make me like baseball, but it was quite impressive how he's learnt how to ask for a ball in so many languages, he seemed pretty normal as well.
because 99% of people here are British and are therefore aware of the fact the game is wank.
that neither of them were actually showing much interest in the game that was being played during that interview.
there's 162 games in a season, so you don't need to concentrate ALL the time. and the players are basically all just normal tubby blokes that happen to be amazingly talented at throwing and swinging a stick. there's plenty of time for practical jokes and drinking and trash talk and souvenir hunting.
but then when a game means something the tension is absolutely unbearable, and one second or one inch can change everything completely.
you're inevitably going to end up with dead rubber games in any league system.
only at the end of the season do you really get a handful of teams which dont have some sort of target.
are there any decent baseball games for Xbox at the moment?
I'm enjoying frittering my time away on Madden 08' and NHL 08' and wondered whether the baseball equivalent (if it exists) is worth a look?
Middlesbrough versus Villa, mid November say. Not even the linesmen bother watching.
but obviously with so many more teams there's more teams playing for nothing but pride come the end.
even then, there's always statistics and records to beat - they might not mean anything in football but they're pretty meaningful in baseball and it's always nice to see records broken.
i dont particularly not like baseball anyway, was just arguing a point
play 80 home games a season i'd not be paying much attention either.
and i still can't reply in the right place.
there's far more to baseball than just the GAME anyway. the scenery! the grounds! the food! the fat guys! the ridiculous injokes! the MEMORIES!
mainly though, it's a strange game full of odd vagaries with more tension than any other sport i can think of. that's all there is to it.
that you kind of have to be there though. how can watching it on telly come close to being there?
i suppose it's the same with any sport really though. i can't stand watching football on tv.
i'm a sucker for americana, so i can enjoy all of that without being there personally.
plus on the TV they can explain what the fuck just happened, which is handy.
you don't even need to pay attention!
because that was a 5 minute interview, presumably composed of clips from a game which will have lasted for around 3 hours and will have had lots of time when nothing is actually happening.
in essence, your point is a ridiculous one.

[00:48] joel`: you are pal, seriously
'watching baseball smarter' its really really really good. you should read it.
