I always thought any 'divide' would be superficial and exaggerated.
BUT at this party here last night: HAHA.
There were only two boys out of about 15 who weren't from Southern counties.
And somehow we got talking about schools, and it turned out most of them were from public school.
I like to ask people questions all the time. So as soon as they mentioned it I was like 'OOOH. What was it like?'.
Awkwardness ensued. They thought we were looking down on them because we're salt of the earth heroes and they're poshos. So they all hated us. They all locked themselves in a bedroom and started bitching about 'the Northerners' :'(.
I liked them all, but it seemed like we were on different planets. I put Definitely Maybe on and they turned it off!
But yes: they all think we were dragged up and into smack when we were 12.
They were weak for my chat-up line though: "I like my Soul Northern, but my girls Southern." (H)
We're going to Camden this afternoon, me and friend. Watching the match then going out for a few. Come see me. Grey suit, 'maroon' polo-neck. Mop-ed. Northern monkey look.
