Would anyone like to join me? I'm going to try for a week not to drink. From Monday.
Is it possible...
I haven't drunk this last week...it's good. I'm realising that one mammoth sesh pretty much ruins my whole week
piece of piss.
anyway, a week isn't that long. Go for a month
as soon as I get drunk everything goes wrong. I've been suspended from work. Ouch
I've got some line managers to bite...
I work in a shitty place. No sick pay, no pay for being suspended, and a rubbish amount of holiday pay.
and post it to you?
you give me one.
and I'll get you a drink too
and gimme one.
I may be cheap, but I'm not free
I'll stay tee-total until then, so you can get me drunk faster.
The longest I did this for was 13 months
when you are worried about having to go for ONE WEEK without booze. only 7days and it's a problem :( I've started some antibiotics so have to bee teetotal (yeh..i know you 'can' drink but last time i did that...well...i'm not doing it again.)
Becuase most of my social life is based around drinking. It's not like I don't have other interests like theatre, films, galleries etc etc...but well I don't know.
but maybe make an effort to go to some galleries etc during this time? new start n all that? i did that yesterday tbh in manchester and it was great! i had a wicked day. but also went for a few pints between galleries :(
A dew weeks ago I went to the cinema on a SATURDAY NIGHT. Shame, the bloody cinema had a bar. I ended up getting pissed and sleeping through the film!
to give up in January for a month. I lasted until the 7th. That's the longest I've gone without drinking in about 3 years. I find this face gravely depressing.
Thing is, I can't do the "socialise but not drink" thing. If I'm in a pub / club, I need to have a drink.
I would rather not go near a pub than sit there drinking coke.
START SMOKING HEAVILY.
12 cups of tea at least a day. Think it's a Welsh thing.
i drink about 10.
maybe it's a british thing?
Asking someone if they want a cup of tea. Breaks the ice. Also, if you want someone to leave your house it's great to go about it in a less obvious way. "Fancy a cuppa before you go?".
recently my hangovers are so bad I feel like an alcoholic in withdrawal every monday. I feel so much better when I don't drink for a while, but then I'm in such a bouncy lively mood that all I really want to do is go out with my friends and get pissed!
I've decided there's no way I'm ever going to quit drinking - I like it too much - but I'm trying to get it down to one night a week.
but I get the shakes, feel very mentally fragile, have loads and loads of nervous energy, can't sit still, can't concentrate on anything...
That's because you're seventeen. I think I got my first hangover at eighteen, after a night on 'real' cider
i'm not looking forward to my eighteenth :(
i am going to make the most of it!
though for my eighteenth i'll be in london for a week.
thats me, the not going drinking for a while and consequently feeling great and up for going drinking and then getting the horrors staright after
implies you have no cofidnece in it or desire to achieve it.
it was time.
I spent most of this summer off booze but then again was going through some major shit so knew it would be a bad move to be on the boozes.
I've always drunk a lot but am kind of bored with it all now. I enjoy weekends not waking up hungover.
Yes I am bored of drinking/hangovers.
on things is great if it works; although, of course, it rarely does (on a long-term basis). It's either a) too difficult (you might have one lapse, feel like a failure, and chuck the whole idea in the bin), or b) the same problems resurface down the line.
Here's an idea: get into the habit of cutting back. Stop before you're drunk. Don't make a big deal of it to yourself; but try to get out of this idea of drinking to get drunk (I don't actually know if that's how you feel anyway). Try some tricks: drink lower alcohol drinks; have a pint of water every other round (this works SO well); switch to nonalcoholic after a certain time.
You are probably right. I've recently had kidneys problems so it's a matter of having to cut right back. Good advice thanks
