Best game ever. Who defeated Underwater Weapon?
knights of the round defeated most things..
Although there is no need for the casanova move to last 638 minutes. Get on with it Sephiroth!
to resurrect Aerith, right?
IT WAS ALWAYS A RUMOUR!! THEY TOOK IT OUT BEFORE THEY RELEASED IT!!
You had to sellotape a two pence piece to the top of your playstation and tap out the rhythm to the Spice Girls classic Wannabe on the X button.
But I did summon get an All materia and Ifrit.
Yuffie or Tifa?
though i never completed it
still adore this game.
if you want to call yourself hardcore, try some of the challenges on gamefaqs.com. stuff like no materia and beating the game at the lowest possible level. hardcore!!
without touching the contoller during the battle, that was fucking hard, but fun. only managed to do it for emerald
once i decided to see how far i could level up before the first boss - cloud ended up having all but the level 4 limit break and was like level 25. killing bosses in one hit, yes!
FF7 == best game ever.
seriously the best game I've ever played, and it was a rival to Gran Turismo for a while, I couldn't defeat ruby weapon (the on that was in the desert) it was solid as fuck, but I did get Cloud's best weapon, knights of the round etc. Shame I really wanted to ressurect Aeris. God what a geek I am haha.
The key with any of the hardcase bosses on that game - weapons especially, is that if you can just stop them mullering you in the first 5 seconds and get into a rhythm - with the right combination of materia and such, they're pretty easy.
Now how geeky am I for remembering that shit?
having only played iot for the first time a few months ago.
Unfortunately one of the discs is scratched to shit and refuses to work from the point where Cloud and Tifa fall into the life stream.
i've got about 7 copies somewhere.
no better game to play when your laid up, alone, and stoned...Emerald Weapon is C*** though.
I wish they would re-release this game but without random battles, i dont' think i could handle playing it all the way through again
posted it twice AND got an apostrophe in the wrong place :-(
random battles are pretty essential.
otherwise the game would be too easy/clunky.
there were no random battles. That seemed to do ok.
the whole game was built around that :(
they'd have to really change ff7 for it to be like that.
then it wouldn't be ff7 and me and my army of fanboys would be in japan faster then hotcakes.
I loved FF7 because of the story and characters, i remember getting annoyed at the random battles even then.
to see a "next-gen" ff7.
but i bet square enix would mess it up.
Psht! I made Emerald Weapon my bitch.
I would probably still buy it. I'd only hate myself for a moment.
but it'd have to be good colours.
You must have spent fucking HOURS killing that motherbitch, for the amount of times I've played it I couldn't be bothered to get my levels that high...Best game ever hands down.
final attack (master) and life 2, turbo mp + kotr and just mime mime mime.
The hours go on levelling yourself up beforehand. The battle itself is over fairly quickly if you have the right kit.
Got all the extra characters, leveled everyone up to 99, with all their ultimate weapons and defeated Emerald and Ruby.
Ohhh... I've wasted my life.
but i still played it as much as the others.
did you cringe at the whistling scene too?
I finished 8 and 9 pretty easily after working out was best to use in the final battles.
i remember that if you killed Emerald Weapon you got a little extra cut scene at the end featuring Red XIII and his kids.
This and Resident Evil 1 on playstation (which i knew nothing of before i played it) Completely changed the way i looked at games. Alot of games became worthless after these two. Gone were the days where you'd buy any old shit, or rent whatever from Blockbuster.
ACtually put Tomb Raider 1 in there too. That was a first also. Not quite the same but hours of true pleasure and difficulties.
Resident Evil 2 was better than 1. Same goes for Tomb Raider.
for the gamecube? that was fucking awesome.
I never went past PS1.
it wasnt groud breaking like the first one. It wasnt as claustrophobic. It was more action orientated. And the voice acting was far too good.
Tomb Raider 2 had the same problem. Two action focused... and it had some really week levels.
1 was spot on, and far more inventive.
"i remember that if you killed Emerald Weapon you got a little extra cut scene at the end featuring Red XIII and his kids."
that's how the game ended anyway.
it's certainly one of my all time top 3 games. talking about it the other day with a friend, i reckon i could still complete the whole thing from memory. i've got it and my playstation in a box in my room still, maybe i should bust it out while my pc is still knackered.
Want this game back. Still the best game ever, and one of two games I ever seemed to give a shit about the plotline (the other being Soleil on the MegaDrive, amazing game). Not so sure I could be arsed to grind all the way through it though.
I remember when my dad got me the PS for Xmas one year with that game, he watched the first half hour or so and declared it utter shit (to be fair, those pissing random fights with the soldiers every 10 seconds - ugh). I've never managed to convince him otherwise.
Time to check Amazon for a PC version...
I only ever managed to beat Sephiroth, might still have my PS memory card with the "final save" in that cave though. Got me a Golden Chocobo so might have to go and fight the Weapons. Aaaaah, great game.
with the turks theme at full volume on yr headphones is a great way to go from feeling lame to uber-cool.
