I've forgotten how hilarious this guy is. One day I may even bring myself to read one of his books...
book I just posted about in here but it seems to have disappeared :S
the sex scenes were so brutal
The Self Magazine sketch on Trigger Happy TV? They launched a magazine about Will Self.
always the highlight of Shooting Stars
wasn't like that in real life.
I met you.
And you...um... seemed nice?
infact, will self can be my 'traynor voice' for when i read his posts.
Watching him now... kinda reminds me of Chiaroscuro... disturbing...
intellectual snobs David Icke was on about.
I love Germaine.
i think she is underrated in most of society but has become too much of a smug media whore in recent years.
the Karl Pilkington Comedy Lab thingy, did he? In fact, he came across as a total and utter penarse. Whereas David Icke and Germaine Greer came across as rather nice people.
UNLESS Karl Pilkington actually IS a genius Borat-type creation after all. And Will Self's in on the joke.
I said "came".
that there was no way he would actually be that rude in real life and that he had to be joking, wether or not karl was actually thick - why go on TV and be really mean? i think will is probably smart enough to realise what happens when you go on tv...
but can't get over the feeling he's actually a bit of a cock.
I read Great Apes once and thought it really quite a dull, over-stylised piece of work. Some good ideas but approached in a way that I didn't like and ultimately found unsatisfying.
I'd probably like it a lot more now, however; that was 12 years ago.
but a funny man when he opens his mouth. Less so when he puts pen to paper.
as he ages, Will Self will continue to develop his ire and descend into an epitomy of grumpy-old-man, infused with both a critical eye and a bitter prognosis. Keeping insanity at bay, just, he will, mixing the real and the surreal, provide a commentary on mankind's descent into a total blurring of the divide between reality and reality TV. As we all become contestants, Will Self will watch us from his chaise-longue, wheezing and coughing, criticising both our existence and, with equal interest, our performance.
i've always thought about reading one of this books, and am only put off by that the fact that it might only be his voice that makes most of the stuff he says funny...
