1) Timestamp the entries on the forum view
2) Make the threads wider
3) Lose the peach colouring
What have I missed?
but people need to vote for this thread so it gets noticed.
Watch 'Singing With The Enemy'?
That bassist was a fitty.
but in the blogs section, the "edit content" and writer name texts overlap very uglyly.
actually is this a staff only thing?
is nowhere near as good as this one.
sorry, but personally i think the new logo is horrendous. the kerning on the letters just looks dire, like someones just outlined the letters and squidged them up.
(and have made myself 8 times as likely to die of lung cancer)
Why do the 'users online' list show profile names and not user names? Makes it a bit confusing to actually work out who's online...
Other than that, the blue makes me feel a little ill. I look at it for so long and I think I've got frost bite. It's quite strange....
notes, when you post, and the users online that should be the username and not the profile name.
white seems nice and clean now.
Or have the option for users to choose to.
the old background should go...doesn't really fit with the new layout and colours. the new logo wouldn't stand out so much too if it was on a white background...
"DON'T OPEN IT. DON'T OPEN IT"
to have black and white, it wouldn't be *that* bad.
The colours literally do make my eyes sting if I look at them for a while.
yes people have gone far over the top, but the blue does hurt my eyes after a few minutes, surely it would be in the best interest of the site to have people actually able to read stuff?
i couldnt see what i was typing ;)
has consisted of hysterical, toys-out-the-pram, wah wah wah want old DiS back bullshit.
if people made their points rationally, there wouldn't be such a shitstorm over these details, which will obviously be fixed by tomorrow.
but nah, everything has to be a drama.
i think it would have been better in hindsight for you to have let them throw a tantrum then calm down, rather than dignifying some silly claims with a response.
Its only an internet site after all. I just dont want my eyes to hurt.
it's childish and it sorta negates all the intelligent points people try to make.
if theyre clearly being irrational, let them get on with it. Telling them they are being silly doesnt really need to be done.
everyone had real names, there was reply column or one for who posted what.
The logo just doesn't seem right - childish or something.
The colour scheme literally does make my eyes water - and they seem way too bright, the decision to have them so bright and OTT when users are generally expected to read the boards/articles/interviews seem stupid.
The main page doesn't offer enough variety of content, there's too much scrolling to do to check out new reviews.
The news page is also a little bit "hmmm" - the boxes are like NME.com or something. Having them in columns, with it easy to scroll down and check things was good.
These are all criticisms of what looks to be long-term changes too. Granted, a few "bugs" may be fixed, and there me be some new features on the way - but by the looks of things DiS will change for the worse in my opinion - and I don't understand what's being "dramatic" or "OTT" about that?
so you made those points three hours ago as rationally and as mature as you just did there, huh?
and you certainly didn't type in caps lock or swear or anything.
and then it seems to have been completely butchered in terms of design. It was just some succinct initial opinions...
Do you really imagine me crying at the computer screen when I use the word "fuck"? How dramatic!
Capitals, too!? STEP. TOO. FAR.
we just dont work here
Although the colours are *slightly* better on festivals.
MySpace: lots of profiles like this one. But I don't exactly look at profiles for hours.
Last.fm - Red/Black & white: Easy, simple, toned down, not OTT.
Pitchfork: Nice light blue and white. Doesn't stick out at you like this one.
Metacritic: Black and white, simple and easy.
Then other sites like NME.com are horrible to look at, but I don't exactly look often.
i love you.
i thought it'd be a quix to judge how random i am! i'm gonna hunt one of those down now, i've always wanted to know how random i am..
You´re normal. Congratulations!
You have correctly answered 3 of 10 questions.
The average of surfers gave 3.28 correct answers.
"You scored 65% randomness!
You're random. You come out of no-where with stuff, but make sense most of the time "
cool. good to know.
i thought this was an abomination that you just wouldn't stand for?
wait, we couldn't do that on the last DiS either? huh?
you annoyed me by over-reacting. your appraisal of metacritic didn't bother me.
i don't care enough to hold a grudge though.
is the background supposed to be white?
and the white background in firefox. FUN.
i tried it and it didn't work, the disappointment :((((
maybe have the background less 'blank' (liek, more borders and stuff)
and ditch all this real name malarkey.
and yeah, wider threads/times all that stuff. but whatever, YAY!
i've decided i like the peach too (still not as much as the blue). I definitely cant think of any other colour that would be as soft on the eyes.
wider threads: yes.
usernames sorted: yes.
I don't mind about the other stuff.
it hurts my eyes.
it was darker, this is like looking into the sun
that do my head in...
i have a feeling everyone else would think another slight coloured background would be too unprofessional looking.
in other news: what about yellow instead of peach?
i don't think yellow would suit your colouring, darling!
click on festivals then community, for blue and green should not be seen... since my tshirt and fleece combination last winter!
too blocky and cramped.
All white mo' better.
the 5th or 6th entry in the left and right columns are difficult to read as the black text clashes with the grey 'stripe' thing. Maybe a font change too...
And the logo looks shit, like it's been badly cut-and-pasted in.
Other than that, it's alright, but it wasn't really broken so fixing it was pretty unnecessary.
it needs some definition.... it looks like a background template/image/whatever, which maybe provides the visual structure of the page, was meant to load but didn't.
Making a stand against childhood obesity since 2007
I really liked the 3 way split of singles / albums / live. Was easy to see whats new on the site n all that jazzy business.
Gis is back yeah? Other than that i quite like it [smattering of applause]
It just needs definition- maybe a background as suggested. And I agree with theo when he says it needs to be wider.
On the frontpage (which I love, to be honest), would be good to see whether a review is album or single. I'm not sufficiently clued up to work that out before I click in some cases.
Otherwise, I think it's a pretty good job.
I like it.
is going to prevent some posters from browsing at work. It now sticks out like a sore thumb, even with images turned off in Opera.
I still can't believe the 'guestbook' style forum layout is still here.
The front page looks lovely.
Typing into the dialogue box goes out the side of the box so you can't see what you've just written properly.
put it at the top beside the logo and unsquash the content.
Or is there going to be adverts there as well?
The site suffers a lot from the advert at the side, if this was better placed there could be more width to the rest of the page which is badly needed. Considering the ad is only on the top section of the page, once you get lower down the space used for it is wasted. Atthe top next to the logo would be better i think. Lets hope DIS take note of some of the ideas mentioned.
move ad, add timestamps.
Is it just a temporary bug that they're not on the boards?
...so that it matches the new style. The old one is seriously disturbing the new site's feng shui.
it's really annoying me for some reason and I have the feeling that nothing will actually be done about it because it was presumably designed as it is for a reason :(
but on the front page, I can't tell if the review is for a single or an album. Because they're all mixed up. And they shouldn't be.
going to be implemented?
when the techs are bloody well ready to do it! put the kettle on, eh love?
I ran out of things to respond to. You're like the all seeing eye.
