Help! I have no idea how to write one!
Somebody offer me help!
should refer to exactly where you saw the ad (inc the date if a newspaper) and the full job title.
one paragraph re: why you'd be good for the job (insert relevant experience).
i attach my cv for your perusal (though, that's very old fashioned, must be a better way of saying it?)
i look forward to hearing from you in due course.
I wish to apply for the position of 'Covering Letter' as advertised on DiS on 21/10/07.
I am forwarding you my current CV. Thank you.
Something like that maybe?
I had to do a covering letter for a job application, along with sending in my CV. I adapted my CV to stress the bits of my job experience that would be relevant to the job and then went into some more detail on the letter.
My approach with job applications (CV or application form) is to cover every element of the job description and person spec, explaining how I meet each criterion or could meet each one with a bit of experience/training/mentoring on the job.
It didn't work with the recent application. :(
job description :( just tells you the job title.
Is that usual in your line of business? I suppose in that case just do what Bundoz said above...
with out job descriptions recently. I ad an interview at one, asked exactly what the job involved and the question was greeted with "Haven't you researched what we do?", Great.
Re: Job title
I enclose my CV/application in relation to the above post.
I am currently working as a blah at blah. In this role, I blah blah blah. I would now like to move into a role that would allow me to blah, and I feel that this post would be an excellent opportunity for me to use my blah skills. Yada yada I'm fantastic.
I look forward to hearing from you.
It's got me a fair few interviews, good luck!
That ^ was me. Forgot to log in as usual!
