how comes i always cook too much, even if i think i put about 3 strands of it in the pan!
i also can't figure out how to make the stuff. How do you know how much water to add?
you just put it in a pan full of water
Had the same problem.
but she's amazing. Cous cous is easier because you can drain it.
to get a rice cooker. They're dirt cheap and you don't have to watch it or anything and it comes out perfect
The time and angst I could have saved during my uni years if someone had told me to do this.
you just put half a cup of rice plus 1 cup of water. cook on high, stirring occassionally til it's boiled. then turn it on low put a cover on and leave it for a while, 20 min. or so. check it. try a peice. if it's still hard, stir it, if all water is gone, then just add a TINY bit more and cook longer! yay!
I'm rubbish at doing it.
Oh, and for more making to much, also see: spegahetti.
I ALWAYS cook too much on purpose, because I can make egg fried rice the next day.
You gotta wash rice...several times, til the water is more or less clear, as well.
oh and once you've done that, you bring it to the boil and simmer for about ten minutes, or until it's cooked (this will be obvious because it expands)
